President Obama’s State-by-State Job Approval Numbers Mean He’s Headed for a 1 Term Presidency

Bookmark and Share Gallup recently released their annual state-by-state presidential approval numbers and the results paint several pretty dismal pictures for the President, pictures that reflects the overall dismal economic condition that that the nation is in.reside
According to the analysis the President received a plurality of approval from residents of only the District of Columbia and 10 states, while his job approval was below 50% in the remaining forty states. Furthermore; in a majority of them, his approval was well below 45%.

This analysis is particularly troublesome given that while the President’s job approval rating nationally is below the 50% mark, the President’s reelection rests not within the national opinion as much as it does within the collective electoral college results that arrived at through the opinions reflected in each individual state. And while a Real Clear Politics average of national polls put the Presidents approval rating at 46.5% and his disapproval rating is at 47.9%, what the Gallup state-by-state analysis shows is that the President’s challenge is actually tougher than the national polls indicate.

Gallup points out that President Obama received a 44% job approval rating in his third year in office, which is down from 47% in his second year. If that trend were to continue, Ron Paul could be nominated by the G.O.P. and probably defeat President Obama handily. But reality dictates that Ron Paul will never see the light of day as a Republican presidential nominee, and that President Obama’s numbers are not likely to trend downward as he embarks upon a billion dollar campaign that will seek to rehabilitate his own image while eviscerating the image of his Republican opponent.

However, if the President finds his reelection effort failing to reverse the trend of his existing numbers and change the opinions that voters have of him now, he is doomed. Based upon the current trend, If the President were to only carry those states in the Gallup poll which he he had a net positive approval rating in 2011, he would lose the 2012 election with 215 electoral votes, to the Republican nominee’s 323 electoral votes.

A White House 2012 breakdown of the Gallup study demonstrates how daunting a challenge lies ahead for President Obama.

Based upon his current state-by-state approval ratings, if we give President Obama each state where his rating is at 50% or above, he would lose the election by winning 159 electoral college votes from D.C., California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. The Republican nominee would receive 379 electoral votes, 109 more than needed.

But White House 2012 tried to be a bit more realistic and decided to breakdown these numbers down by giving President Obama the benefit of the doubt by assuming he can turn his numbers around in all those states where his approval was as low as 45%.

That was not only generous, it was also responsible for a fairly more accurate picture of things.

Regardless of the numbers, there are some states that will not likely vote Republican regardless of how bad a job President Obama is doing or who the Republican presidential nominee is. States like Washington and Oregon on the West Coast will probably remain dark blue and the president may easily turn around his downward trending approval ratings among the liberal sympathisers of those states. That accounts for 19 more electoral votes. Then you can easily see the President take Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan in the Midwest. That’s 36 more electoral votes. Then because his numbers are barely above 45% in Iowa, let’s say he can pull off some magic there, a state which he won in 2008. That’s 6 more. Then on the East Coast, you’ll find Maine, and Rhode Island remaining true blue. That’s another 8 electoral votes. And throw in Pennsylvania too if for no other than reason than the Southeast portion of the state may still be strongly under the President’s spell. That’s 20 more for a total shift of 89 electoral votes which gives President Obama 248 to the G.O.P.’s 290, a figure that still gives the win to the Republican nominee with 20 more electoral votes than needed.

With 29 electoral votes, this would make Florida the key to the President’s winning reelection. Without it he needs Ohio with 18 electoral votes and at least one of the following other states; Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, or North Carolina.

Those four states are not goof for him right now, but he has better numbers in them than he does in other states like New Hampshire or Arizona.

But even these state’s will be hard for Obama. Currently his job approval is 40.4% in Colorado, 41.7% in New Mexico, 41.3% in Nevada, and 43.7% in North Carolina. Meanwhile his approval numbers in Florida and Ohio are at 43.6% and 42.1% respectively.

While turning these numbers around will not be impossible in the course of the lifetime that politically speaking, exists between now and November, doing so will be quite a dramatic achievement. One that may require not just a well run campaign on the President’s part, but also a badly managed campaign on the part of whoever his Republican opponent is.

On a sidenote, I can not figure out for the life of me how the President’s job approval rating went up in a place like Wyoming. It went up slightly in Connecticut and Maine, but those two states are known for the lunacy of their liberalism and in many cases their socialism. But Wyoming?

As for the final outcome, no one can honestly say they know how the election will end. But based upon a bit of instinct, the issues that will play out during the campaign, and the existing numbers, I offer my own following projections.

It should be noted that if this scenario does come to fruition, there is the potential for an Electoral College crisis, for it offers the possibility of a tie in the Electoral College:

However I do not suspect that such a tie will occur because of the battleground states that I believe this will come down to, I foresee Republicans winning Pennsylvania, Colorado, and New Mexico.

On September 12th, 2009, Party Like It’s 1776 And Be Heard America!!

Bookmark and Share I am hearing little from the mainstream media about September 12th.

Yet this Saturday is far more than just the day after September 11th, the eight year anniversary of the terrorist attacks that left an indelible mark on American life and history. It is the day that thousands, make that at least tens AtEaof thousands of people from throughout America will march on Washington, D.C..

Although it is in many ways a protest, it is actually much more than that. It is a demonstration of the spirit that Americans had on the twelfth of September, 2001. A spirit of defiance and determination. A spirit that united our nation in a collective sense of goodwill and appreciation for all that we are and have.

It took the devastating assassinations of more than 3,000 Americans on four different airplanes and at three different locations within a matter of just a few early morning hours to make us appreciate what we have in America and what those lost souls had in America. In the wake of the events of 9/11, countless acts of heroism were revealed and continued to take place at ground zero where men and women dug through whatever rubble the intense heat allowed them to touch so that they could see if any lives could be saved. In the days to follow 9/11 Americans stood together, political parties worked as one government and even foreign governments stood with us. I will never forget when England played our national anthem and raised our flag to demonstrate their shared grief for us and their solidarity with us.

American flags were raised in every town square and store front and were hung on every front porch and balcony in our land. And when we saw those flags, we wept. We wept for those who died, those who were killed by the enemies of freedom and we wept for the loved ones they left behind who were trying to deal with the grief and shock of their losses.

We were also brought to anger when we saw those flags. We were angered by the enemies who jeopardized our freedom by using terror as a tool to restrict us through a fear for living our lives in usual fashion.

Those sentiments made us appreciate freedom. As airports were closed and commercial flight over America was brought to a halt for nearly a month, we realized how inconvenient restrictions on our freedom were.

It took the passing of the day and night of 9/11/01 to make us appreciate life, America and freedom as much as we should when dawn broke on September 12th, 2001.

Eight years later, on September 12th, 2009, despite what Democrat political operatives and liberal talking heads call them, hundreds of thousands of Americans throughout the nation will who don’t need another 9/11 to make them appreciate freedom, will be gathering to fight for it. These Americans are not just Republicans.  Most are not.  But many are Democrats and libertarians and most are independents.

And these Americans are not simply protesting President Barack Obama, they are protesting a problem that he has only become a part of. They will be protesting Republicans who voted to tax the air that we breathe in a Cap-and -Tax bill that Congress passed. They will be protesting Democrats who want the government to run healthcare and medical treatment. They will be protesting presidents who have spent more money than our nation has and the senators and congressmen who found it acceptable.

On September 12th, 2009 Americans who, disgusted by a government that is taking more freedoms away than they are protecting, will show our collective opposition to the way that things are going and the direction that our government and its politicians and bureaucrats are taking us in.

These people are Tea Party Patriots. They are common sense Americans who understand Thomas Paine’s Common Sense and its convincing arguments for independence. These are people who want to distribute their own wealth the way that they want. Not redistributed the way that bureaucrats want. They are people who have are fed up with going to the polls to vote down proposed school budgets, only to find their vote overridden by the governments that they elect into office.

Tea Party protestors are not disturbed people as the media would describe them. They are people disturbed and fed up by a government that has become less for the people and by the people and more against the people by the czars and unelected, unaccounted bureaucrats who wield more power than they any representative republic should allow.

The men and women who will assemble in Washington, D.C. on September 12th and in hundreds of locations through out America, understand Patrick Henry’s passionate plea “Give me Liberty or give me Death”. They also understand that if we allow our government to continue heading in the direction that it is going in, we will be killing liberty as we once knew it.

So for those of you who will mock these men and women, those of you who want to mischaracterize their faith in freedom as heartless or fascist-like, take yourself down a notch and ask yourself this. While you are sitting there watching us from your livingroom sofa and calling us radical extremists, what demonstration for, or stand for freedom have you taken lately? While you sit there and watch freedom get legislated away by the very same people who you elect and continue to support, ask yourself what kind of nation and world this would be were it not for Americas freedom fighters in 1776 and the years leading up to it?

There are currently more than a few hundred events throughout America scheduled for this Saturday, September 12th. These events are in addition to the national demonstration in D.C. on that same day. They are for those who could not join the national bus Caravan from California to D.C. and can not make it D.C. on their own. They are events in your own state and more are being scheduled as we speak.

Take a look at the list of those events below. If you are not already planning on being in D.C., join the Tea Party protest that is against big government and for personal and fiscal responsibility in your neighborhood and Party like its 1776!   Let your voice be heard.

Please join thousands of local organizers and grassroots Americans from across the country as we gather in our nation’s capital to deliver a message to the politicians: Enough!   We’ve had enough of the out of control spending, the bailouts, the growth of big government and the soaring deficits. Meet us at Freedom Park in Dixon, IL on September 12, 2009 for a Tea Party. Bring your signs, your opinions, and your freedoms as we celebrate our Constitution, protest against an out of control government (both at the State and Federal Government), and show that WE the PEOPLE are ready to take back our country.

We will be meeting at 12 noon at the SE corner of Galena Avenue and 2nd Street. From there, we will have a short march to our final destination. We will schedule speeches and welcome people to share their grievances with our government. We felt freedom park with the remnants of the Berlin Wall an appropriate setting to start our rally.

Rally at the Tree in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, 9/12 at 12 noon, rain or shine.

A march on Washington is scheduled for September 12th (see http://www.the912project.com/ for details).

If you can make it to DC for the march, by all means, GO. But if you can’t take a couple days off to go to DC, please join us here in Cedar Rapids instead. In the spirit of the nationwide Tea Party grass roots movement and the 9/12, there will be a rally at the Cedar Rapids Tree downtown on the river (the site of the two previous Tea Parties) to encourage grass roots resistance to the many recent encroachments on our freedom.  Those who are so inclined may take the podium (we have a PA system now) to say a few words about the issues that most bother you. Please Contact me by email if you are interested in speaking so I can get a list together , you will need to keep your speeches under 2 minutes and on topic !!!.   Some of the big issues we are concerned with are defeating Obama Care, defeating Cap and Trade (the environmental bill), plans to suppress free speech by silencing talk radio, future stimulus bills, and any measure that promises to usher in a new era of confiscatory taxes and infringement on our freedoms. We are very concerned about the march toward socialism and what we can do to stop it at the local, state and national levels.  This get together is part pep rally to encourage each other and part organizational meeting to increase our effectiveness by finding ways to work together to get our voice heard. Bring your signs.

Great news! We have joined forces with the Kern County 9/12 Project Group to promote and celebrate Saturday, September 12. There are a good number of people in the Bakersfield area that are involved with both the 9/12 project and the Tea Party. Leadership of both groups want to ensure that we are united in our patriotic efforts. We want to make the 9/12 day in Bakersfield enjoyable for all and provide options for people to participate in both or one of the events scheduled. We have moved the Tea Party Rally at Central Park to start at 12:30 PM. This will give people who attend the 9/12
event to view the special live broadcast of the Glenn Beck Show from Washington DC and have time to drive over to Central Park. This will also give others more options on what they want to do about lunch if they don’t attend the 9/12 event in the morning. Here is a revised schedule with keeping both events in mind:

    I. Sept 12th March on Washington DC Live Broadcast, Anchored by Glenn Beck 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM – Coconut Joe’s Banquet Hall 4000 Easton Drive, Suite 2

Glenn Beck told us on March 13th with the unveiling of the 9/12 Project that he would meet us back here in six months on 9/12. Joe at Coconut Joe’s has generously donated his banquet room to us. Saturday morning, 9/12 we will be gathering to watch the march on Washington, anchored by Glenn Beck at Coconut Joe’s 4158 California Ave. We will be serving brunch/lunch. The cost is $18 per person, however a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the Kern County 9/12 group for future events! Joe has been very generous, he regrets that he will not be able to join us however, he will be in Washington DC! So get those RSVP’s in and let’s have a good turn-out! Glenn will begin his broadcast at 10:00 am to it completes at Noon! So plan to come share good conversation with like minded people, good food and a mimosa or two! So come out and support the merchants who are supporting us!

Please RSVP ASAP so we can give Coconut Joe’s an idea of how many people to expect. You can RSVP through the facebook event link:

II. Bakersfield 9/12 Tea Party Rally – Central Park at Mill Creek downtown Bakersfield 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

The Bakersfield Tea Party is inviting you, your friends, and your family to a Tea Party Rally on Saturday, September 12 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The location will be at Central Park in downtown Bakersfield. Central Park is the location where the federal courthouse will be built and this has been an issue of great local debate. We are meeting to make our voices heard against fiscal irresponsibility, big government intrusion, over-taxation, and the damage to our free market system coming from all levels of government (Federal, State, County, and City). This is great chance for us to meet together and bring us all back to the place we were on September 12, 2001. The day after America was attacked we were not obsessed with Red States, Blue States or political parties. We were united as Americans, standing together to protect the greatest nation ever created.

    Event Schedule
    1. Opening address from Bakersfield Tea Party. Announcement of future tea party events and talk about where we go from here. Update and commentary on
national and state issues concerning tea party patriots.

    2. Kern County 9/12 Project leadership will talk about the significance of 9/12 and the march on Washington. There are a good number of people from Kern county that are participating in the Washington D.C. march on 9/12.

    3. Conservative Ken Mettler, President of KLM Homes and member of Kern Citizens for Property Rights, will be speaking about Redevelopment: The Unknown
Government and other local and state government issues that concern tea party principles.

    4. Please bring your lawn chairs, shade covers, and picnic lunch to enjoy lunch in the park or please go grab lunch at one of the downtown restaurants to help support the local economy. Here are some examples of downtown eateries that you can enjoy before or after the rally:

Luigi’s, Goose Loonies, Bill Lee’s, Sinaloa’s, Mexicali’s, La Costa Maricos, Flame and Skewers, Happy Jack’s,Sequoia Sandwich, Sub Station

Please help the Bakersfield economy by supporting Coconut Joe’s by attending the live broadcast of the March on Washington DC from 9:30 to 12:00 or going to one of the downtown Bakersfield eateries. Thank you!

We have chartered the Amazing Grace tall ship from Gig Harbor, Washington. She is an 85 foot, top-sail schooner characteristic of traditional ships from the mid 1700’s. Colonial Patriot Thomas Paine (as seen on YouTube) will deliver a special message. http://www.WeThePeople-Washington.org are working with The 912 Project and other patriotic groups in Oregon to organize this event. Victoria Taft, local talk radio host, has agreed to serve as MC for the event. We have a host of speakers lined up to remind us of the principles of the American Founding and our civic responsibilities as We The People. We must raise our expectations for representation and make a more deliberate effort to develop future statesman. The tall ship Amazing Grace will make her maiden voyage on the Columbia and Willamette rivers.

    DASH DASCHLE’S DUPLICITY

Bookmark and Share     When Tom Daschle served as the Democrats senate leader he was not very cooperative when it came to presidential appointments. In fact in 2004 Daschle prevented up-and-down votes on ten of President Bush’s nominees to federal courts of appeals.
    TOM DASCHLE

    TOM DASCHLE

Back then Tom Daschle believed that there were issues and factors that surpassed the judgment of the President and that President’s constitutionally guaranteed right to appoint individuals to positions that they saw fit.

Little more than four years later Tom Daschle now believes that the President has the right to appoint him to a position despite ethical breaches.

Tom Daschle is,was, and will always be a liberal and as such he always possesses a level of hypocrisy that is astounding.

In 2004 he felt that because the Presidents judicial appointments were conservative, the President should be denied them. Daschle simply disagreed with the President. Those ten judges did not conduct any moral, ethical or legal breaches of conduct or activity. They just weren’t liberal. So for that Daschle, held up the courts and denied the President his judicial appointments.

Now in 2009 Tom Daschle wants us to ignore his own unethical conduct and allow him to be appointed Secretary of Health and Human Services simply because the President wants him.

For his part President Obama wants us to accept his appointment of Tom Daschle to the HHS position because he believes that Tom Daschle is the best person for the job.

Never mind that President Obama made a big deal about constructing the most open, honest and ethical administration in history. Never mind the fact that President Obama stated that he wants his administration to be above reproach.

None of that is suppose to matter when it comes to giving President Obama a stamp of approval. Regardless of his supposedly pristine approach to government we should overlook the ethical breaches of those who he wants to work with.

Despite the fact that Tom Daschle collected over two hundred thousand dollars from the very health care industry that he wants to reform, we should simply approve of the move and give Tom Daschle a thumbs up.

We should approve of President Obama’s choice of Tom Dascle for HHS Secretary despite the fact that he is a tax cheat who claims that he simply saw the year or more of the use of a car and chauffer as an ordinary gift from a friend.

We are to believe that a one hundred and forty thousand dollar gift from a political patron was normal and that it really has no bearing on anything.

Well you know what?. I don’t buy it.

I do not believe that a man who has been given two hundred thousand dollars by an industry can effectively reform and police that industry for the American people.

I do not believe that a man who neglects to pay taxes on services amounting to one hundred and forty thousand dollars demonstrates the ethical sincerity that we need in government.

Tell me, do you think the taxes on that “gift” would have ever been paid had Tom Daschle not been thrust back into the spotlight?

No. He promises to pay the taxes due on those services because he was going to get caught.

As for President Obama, well I have been giving him the benefit of the doubt. He is my President and he has one heck of job to do. He has only been in office for a matter of weeks and he deserves to at least get his footing before anyone tries to knock him off balance. So I have shied away from any harsh criticism, but the inherent hypocrisy of liberal thinking is building to a crescendo and I can not sit idly by and say, sure go ahead, do what you want, ethics do not matter.

The Obama administration is not off to a good start.

The most ethical administration in history didn’t even take office before one cabinet member-designate , New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, had to withdraw his nomination as Commerce Secretary because he is being investigated for selling legislative favors in turn for substantial campaign donations.

Right there it became obvious that the Obama vetting process was faulty.

But then, during confirmation hearings, it became clear that Obama’s choice for Secretary of the Treasury was a tax cheat. That appointment claimed that he didn’t understand the tax code.

Now that’s encouraging, isn’t it. The man in charge of our treasury doesn’t even understand the tax codes he will rule over. Yet despite his lack of familiarity with his job and his ethical breaches, the senate overlooked it all because President Obama felt he was the best man for the job.

    Now this.

Tom Daschle takes money from the industry he will monitor and neglects to pay his taxes.

Is this anyway to gain our confidence in this administration or its sincerity?

Is this anyway for the most ethical administration in history to begin?

I for one do not accept the ethical breaches and illegal conduct of these individuals. I believe that the Obama administration better start saying what it means. Either they are above reproach or they are not.

    Right now they are not.

Right now they are making so many exceptions to their own rules of conduct that they cannot be believed.

The only thing that would anger me more than what the Obama administration is doing to ethics would be for any Republican to vote in the affirmative when it comes to confirming Tom Daschle’s nomination.

Any Republican that can approve of Daschle is simply playing the game and voting for Tom Daschle because he is a former member of their exclusive club….the senate.

Republicans need to be the loyal opposition here. They need to keep President Obama to his word and realize that Tom Daschle is far from meeting the standards set by the President.

And if that isn’t enough I have ten other reasons for denying President Obama his first choice for Secretary of Health and Human Services. Those ten reasons are the ten judges, whose appointments to the bench, Tom Daschle denied, simply because he didn’t like them.

NASA was celebrating, they had just made the scientific breakthrough of a lifetime.

As they were uncorking a bottle of champagne, the head scientist at NASA, asked everyone to be quiet as he had received a congratulatory phone call from the President of the United States.

He picked up a special red phone, and spoke into it.

Mr. President,” he said, grinning broadly, “after fifteen years of hard research costing billions of dollars, we have finally found intelligent life on Mars.”

He listened for a second, and his smile gradually disappeared, replaced by a frown.

He said, “But that’s impossible … we could never do it. … yes Mr. President,” and hung up the phone. He addressed the crowd of scientists staring at him curiously.

“I have some bad news,” he said, “the President said that now that we’ve found intelligent life on Mars … he wants us to try to find it in Congress.”

NEW MEXICO GOV BILL RICHARDSON WITHDRAWS FROM OBAMA CABINET

GRAND JURY INVESTIGATES NEW MEXICO GOVERNOR BILL RICHARDSON AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS

Amid a grand jury investigation into whether he exchanged government contracts for contributions to his failed presidential bid last year, former Clinton cabinet member and incumbent New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson withdrew his nomination for Commerce Secretary in the quickly arranged potential presidential cabinet of President-Elect Barack Obama.

This development helps to maintain the string of Democrat corruption scandals that began with the resignation of New York Democrat Governor Elliot Spitzer early in 2008 and the Senate seat selling scandal of Illinois Democrat Governor Rod Blagojevich at the end of 20o8.

    antjed

JOHN 'Women Are My Vice" EDWARDS

The year was not a good one for politicians.  Along with Democrat gubernatorial problems, the Democrat field of Presidential candidates saw its own share of trouble.  Although Joe Biden’s short lived run for the democrat presidential nomination did not see him involved in another plaguerism scandal, the party’s former Vice Presidential nominee was caught with his pants down.

John Edwards was found to have been having an affair with a hired consultant that his presidential campaign committee paid tens of thousands of dollars to.  All of which occurred while Edwards’  wife began a life threating battle with cancer and continue to stand by her husbands side on the campaign trail.

This latest development just reinforces doubts about politicians and it also creates some doubt about the incoming Obama administration.

Many Obama supporters criticized Senator John McCain and said that picking Sarah Palin was bad judgment and that his campaign did not properly vet her.

That criticism begs to question the judgement and vetting process of the Obama administration.

Did they not look into Governor Richardson before selecting him to be Commerce Secretary?

Maybe they did.  Maybe they felt that anyone who could utilize government for personal profit as well as Richardson may have, would be perfect for a position such as commerce.

Yes siree, change is on the way.  What kind of change we have yet to see.
