Liberals To Tea Party Activists “Drop Dead”

Bookmark and Share   One week after highly demonized former Republican Vice Presidential nominee, Sarah Palin was featured at a Tea Party rally in Harry Reid’s backyard, the politically ailing Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, has begun to kick his Nevada reelection campaign into high gear. But the two events had very different moods. Despite the lefts desire to paint Palin as an unpopular and undesirable figure, at her rally there was an enthusiasm and energy that emanated from the approximately 10,000 anti-Reid protestors in attendance. Yet in one of Reid’s first rallies, there was a sense of desperation from the near 100 hundred people in attendance.

Such small and unenthusiastic turnouts are the best that one can expect when they possess a nationwide approval rating that CBS reports stands at 8%. That’s 3% behind Speaker Nancy Pelosi! Nancy Pelosi……3% behind her! Imagine that. So the small turnout for Reid’s campaign event is no surprise and it is also indicative of his own state polls which have him behind all of his possible Senate opponents by anywhere from 7% to as much as 15%.

These numbers are a reflection of Reid, his leadership, his policies and the process which, as the leader of the Senate, he has manipulated. People are not pleased by any of it and so the polls show it. And in Reid’s case, they are more than dissatisfied, they are angry. All except for the handful of Reid’s loyal supporters.

These supporters are a dedicated portion of the liberal-Democrat base.

These are people who are devout liberals, believe that the federal government is a service industry and rely heavily on the government for their survival. They are people who believe that we need more government, not less. They are largely Democrat forced union voters and they are essentially those liberals who vote the Party line no matter who is on the ballot.

But they are something else too.

These liberal Reid-supporting Democrats are also angry, and they are dangerous, violent, extremists.

How does one reach this conclusion?

Well, at Harry Reid’s campaign event, he began his remarks by referencing Sarah Palin and the anti-Reid crowd in attendance at the rally the week before. As he began those remarks in a way that was meant to belittle them, one of the loyal Reid supporters yelled out “let them drop dead.”

Clearly such a contemptuous outcry from Reid’s followers reflects a deep hatred for those who oppose them and their beliefs. One could say that it is similar to the terrorists of radical Islam. They too harbor the same feeling as the liberal Reid voter who called for those who think differently than her to “drop dead”.

Or is that in and of itself an extreme characterization of all liberals like those who support Harry Reid?

Personally, I think it is extreme. But by the standards of Democrats, it is not.

Last summer when lawmakers went home to their districts and met with constituents who were truly angry with the liberal agenda and how Democrats were ramming it through Congress, Nancy Pelosi stood before the Washington press corps and said that the anger out their worries her and in a reference to the assassination of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California and San Franciso Mayor George Moscone in 1978, claimed that she fears reliving such a climate again.

Then of course you have people like scandal embroiled Congressman Charlie Rangel who claimed that those protesting the government healthcare takeover reminded him of those who protested against civil rights in the 60’s. There is also Bawny Fwanks, who claimed that the people opposing the healthcare scheme spit at him because he is gay. Where he came up with that one bugs the hell out of me because I for one know that given the opportunity, I would not spit on Bawny because he is gay. I would spit on him because he is a disgrace to gays and a despicably corrupt, socialist member of Congress.

But between Pelosi, Rangel, Fwanks and Democrats et al, and those sectors of the media that is biased in their favor, all these conspiratorial concoctions are invented and exaggerated in a way that makes for great theater and is meant to marginalize those who disagree with their agenda.

But when is enough, enough?

If the media maintained any semblance of objectivity, they would have been reporting on the Reid supporter who interrupted the Senator at his campaign event to yell out “let them drop dead” and they would have done so with the same vim and vigor that they display whenever Democrats try to depict conservatives or Tea Party members as violent racists.

The truth is that, from the sound of it, the women who yelled out her crude remark at the Reid event, was an elderly women. Granted, she was probably not your typical blue haired, church going grandmother or Mayberry’s “Aunt Bea”, but she was a relatively harmless senior citizen who is not likely to be running with a bat in hand and breaking skulls and windows. But she did call for those who disagree with her to “drop dead”.

That said, should that woman’s remark be swept under the rug as Democrats and the media have done? Had they not tried to falsely paint conservatives and Tea Party protestors as dangerous radicals, I would say “yes”. It should be ignored. However, unless one supports double standards, the remark can’t be ignored.

To apply the left’s standard to this situation, one would have to suggest that Reid voters and the liberal base that make up those supporters are “calling for violence”. You could say they are full of hate and contempt and that they are dangerous extremist who must be stopped.

Furthermore; should we ignore the fact that as the leader of the senate, Reid failed to put an end to that type of conduct and language?

There is no denying the fact that Reid heard the old biddies raspy and shaky voice as she yelled her uncalled for remark. So why did not this leading figure of the Democrat Party pause to say something like, “Now, now. There will be none of that. These are fellow Americans who simply disagree with us and such uncivil and untoward language has no place in political discourse”?

But no, not Harry. In fact you could say that his negative remarks about Sarah Palin and the people in attendance at the protest rally she spoke at, incited the aggressive reaction that he got from the bitter, decrepit spinster who wants all of those who disagree with her to “drop dead”.

The outrageous remarks of some bored old lady who was enticed to come to a Harry Reid campaign event because of free coffee and cookies, should not change the political landscape. It should not have a bearing on how much more debt our nation accumulates, how many I.R.S. agents it should take to implement healthcare or how we can prevent sworn enemies from obtaining the nuclear capacity to wipe sections of society off of the map. And the same should hold true of a handful of malcontents who may infiltrate a crowd of 50,000 or more people who come together to oppose some of the most transformative pieces of legislation we have ever known.

If this cycle of demonizing one another is to ever stop, perhaps liberals should stop printing labels and stop trying to pit white against black, rich against poor, men versus women, gay versus straight and all the other division that they pin their hopes for future success on. And perhaps it is time for them to live by one standard, not a double one. For if you think about, do you really think that a remark for the opposition to drop dread coming from an audience gathered to hear Dick Cheney would have gone unnoticed? Imagine for a moment, how many days such a remark would have grabbed the headlines if it was yelled out at an event featuring Michele Bachmann or Newt Gingrich?

The remark spoken to Harry Reid at a campaign event is less a statement than how it was handled. The fact that the right is not labeling the left as vicious and dangerous because of it, says something pretty decent of them but the fact that the media hasn’t hung it around the left’s neck like they do with Republicans and that Harry Reid did not denounce the remark says volumes of substantially negative political nuances.

Republican Party Accused of Attempted Murder By News Reporter

Bookmark and Share    Those big bad vast right wing conspirators in the mainstream media at Fox News are at again. They just can’t stop showing their conservative bias. Or is it the other way around.?

In what is probably the best example yet of just how fair and balanced those loyal liberals in the mainstream media are, take a look at the following email sent to the press secretary of Florida Congressman Connie Mack:

You know what? I don’t believe one word you or other conservatives say. The Republican Party is now a mentally ill group of people who want nothing more than to destroy Obama’s first term no matter how much the country needs his policies. I despise your party’s activities and the hatred you spew on Fox and other sounding boards for the insurance companies. Please don’t you dare get him killed, which is the underlying goal of you right wing nuts.

That was the response that John Guerra, a reporter for The Key West Citizen newspaper in Florida, sent off to Stephanie Dubois, the Congressman’s press secretary.

With “on the record” remarks like that I am sure that the Key West Citizen can be relied upon for truly balanced journalism. Perhaps his frank assessment will earn him a Nobel Prize for literature when the distinguished honor is awarded next year. Or maybe Guerra’s accusations of attempted murder of the President will warrant his taking up a position on the editorial board of the New York Slimes or Washington Compost.

Either way, while liberal liars try to shoot down Fox News and accuse Republicans of trying to kill the president, perhaps it’s time they do some deep soul searching and realize the truth, something they rarely deal with, but shall set them free.

They might also want to chew on some of the anti-Republican and anti-Bush news story that Fox has broken over the past few years.  They broke the George W. Bush drunk driving story on the eve of the 2000 election. Four years later, Fox reported Dick Cheney’s one-time advocacy to lift sanctions against Iran while he chaired Halliburton. And Fox did not skimp on stories about Halliburton.

I guess Fox News really is good for nothing.  They can’t even be counted on as a relaible pro-Republican propaganda machine.   But I will tell you what you can count on.  You can be sure that the mainstream liberal media will be there to lob bombs, make false accusations and deliver faulty facts, ala Dan Rather and The New York Slimes.  One need not look any further than John Guerra and The Key West Citizen to understand that.

Want to know what prompted Guerra to accuse republicans of attempting murder?  Below, you will find the press release that Guerra’s remarks were directed at.

Mack: Health Care “Trigger” Option Just More Smoke and Mirrors

WASHINGTON – Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) issued the following statement today following news reports that President Obama and the Democratic Leadership may consider implementing a “trigger” for the public option in their health care bill as a compromise to entice more senators to vote for their ill-conceived plan. Under the trigger idea, insurance companies will have to meet certain benchmarks to avoid triggering a government-run health insurance plan from taking effect.

Mack said:

“This “trigger” idea is just another way for President Obama and Democrats in Congress to push our country down a path of nationalized health care.

“The Administration and the Democratic Leadership have made it quite clear that they believe the government, and not the free market, has all the answers. They refuse to listen to the American people, who are opposed to a government takeover of our health care system.

“The people of Southwest Florida and the nation aren’t going to fall for this gimmick. More freedom, and not more government, is the right path to reforming our health care system. Maybe one day the liberals will grasp this simple concept.”

Fox News Isn’t News But MSNBC, CNN and All the Other Networks Are?

Bookmark and Share   According to White House “Special Advisor to the President”, David Axelrod, Fox News is not a news network.

FoxDuring a tour on the Sunday morning television circuit, the guru behind President Obama’s election effort told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos “It’s really not news — it’s pushing a point of view. And the bigger thing is that other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way, and we’re not going to treat them that way. We’re going to appear on their shows. We’re going to participate but understanding that they represent a point of view.”

In recent weeks, some honest assessments by FOX News have prompted the White House to call a war of sorts on Fox. They refused to allow the President to appear on the network a few weeks back when he went on every network including the Spanish station Univision, to make a desperate pitch for healthcare and since then several hosts on different Fox programs have not even received responses to repeated invitations for interviews.

Clearly, the President does not like Fox. His own Chief of Staff and henchman Rahm Emanuel said on CNN’s State ofaxelrod The Union that Fox “is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective.”

What I find funny is not the White House’s dislike for Fox News. It is the reason why they dislike Fox and how since Rupert Murdoch’s premier news and opinion gathering outlet doesn’t simply rollover and kiss their collective arses, to a liberal, that is crazy rightwing radicalism.  Give    me    a    break.    Liberals of every color and stripe hate the station.   They all like to sit in the kitchen but they can’t take the heat. They can give criticism but they can’t take it.  For decades, the lamestream media has been dominated by a liberal bias.  That is acceptable to them but Fox News isn’t.

Try to be honest folks.  At least for just a minute.   I mean I can, so why can’t you?  I can admit that radio talk shows are dominated by conservative hosts.  From Limbaugh to Levine, Ingrahm to  Hannity, conservatives dominate the radio dial. There.  I admit it.   I have to, because there is no denying it.  I mean, beween the proliferation and popularity of consevative ralk radio and the dreary ratings and ongoing failures of  attempts to air liberal radio talkshow programs makes it quite obvious that there is a big market out there seeking the conservative perspective.  On the flip side, Air America has a an audience so small, that string and cups are all that is  needed to reach them.   These are the facts and I am honest about them and I do not deny them.

For sure, Fox News does not glaze over facts such as that of President Obama’s approval numbers trending downward or that the more he pushed for his government run health management and care reforms, the quicker those ratings of his dropped. You can bet your butt that when the President goes abroad and calls America names, someone on Fox is going to point it out.

SOMEONE HAS TO!

Because there is absolutely no journalistic integrity left in the business of news these days and no other network will bring it up.  The field of news is dominated by partisan liberal ideologues who use every gigabyte of the internet, every electronic transmission and every ounce of ink, to defend the President for anything that he does while at the same time, that which is indefensible, is simply ignored.

These are facts folks. Those of you liberal lunatics who believe that two plus two equals three and that because it does not equal four, it can be considered a tax cut, need to get out of the parallel universe you float around.   Those of you liberal losers who are cursing me out at this very moment, yeah, I mean you, the Davids, the Scotts and Sammys or Sarahs, Sallys and Susies out there.  All of you who like to use Fox News as some kind of tool to fuel your hatred and blame others who disagree with you, of being brainwashed by Fox News, need to wake up.  Just because someone does not agree with your kumbaya, head up your hinnies, holier than thou mentality, doesn’t mean they are brainwashed or that Fox News is doing any brainwashing.  Do you really think that Fox is the only 24 hour news outlet that also carries commentators who state their opinions?    HAVE YOU PAID ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU WATCH?

matthews-obamaYou numbskulls really think that Fox is not a news outlet  because they also hav commentators that present their opinions?  Us that what even your leading numbskulls are actually going on national news to discuss?   You guys actually have the nerve to single out Fox News as being biased and condemn the station for that?

For What? …………For doing the EXACT same thing that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC do?

I have long held the belief that Democrats are hypocrites and that their  liberal ideology is hypocrisy based. That hypocrisy is usually demonstrated every time you open your dumb mouths. That is one reason why I encourage your comments and angry tirades. Through them, you prove me right all the time. But in the case of your infatuation with Fox News, your insanely unhealthy  infatuation with that network, and only them, makes  it evident to everyone other than yourselves that you are hypocrites

You actually have the nerve, gall and audacity to be disgusted with Fox News for not overlooking the flaws and foibles of liberals and then you call them a station promoting a conservative agenda while saying  nothing about literally every other existing network, media outlet and group of reporters and commentators on your favorite programs.

Please tell me where and when any of the following lamestream media liberals do not promote a pro-leftwing “perspective”;

  • Larry King, Wolf Blitzer, Katie Couric, Matt Lower, Meredith Vieira, Contessa Brewer, Campbel Brown, Ann  Curry, Katie Couric, Nora O’Donnell, John King, Kiran Chetry, Miles Obrien, Anderson Cooper, Candy Crowley, Mika Brezinski, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann.

And that’s to name just a few.

But go ahead, please tell me where these people deliver an unbiased news report.

You wanna claim that Fox is biased?   Who was Dan Rather working for when he failed to verify the validity of falsified documents that allowed him to falsely tell the nation that President Bush went AWOL and deserted his command in the Air National Guard?

Good Lord, you people are hypocrites. Your are shameless buffoons who live by double standards and survive on hypocrisy. You claimed it was patriotic to protest President Bush but now claim it is unpatriotic to disagree with President Obama. You are highly offended by fringe elements who depict President Obama as Hitler but you made copies of images that made George Bush look like Hitler and proceeded to laugh yourselves to tears.

You are hypocrites. Face it. You are lying hypocrites. So put those fingers down and stop pointing them at Fox News. Starti pointing them at the endless array of journalistic prostitutes that you TiVo and talk about around the office water cooler or, in your case, the unemployment line.

But before you get ready to shoot off one of your hypocrisy proving comments, I want to let you in on a big secret. Fox News is not liberal. Can you believe it?……… They are the only station that does not run with strictly liberal reporters, commentators and guests.   While Rachel Maddow shows clips of tribute to Nancy Pelosi and then cozies up to her for a softball interview,  Neil Cavuto will interview a Barney Frank and then turn to a Newt Gingrich for a counterpoint. Hmmm, maybe that is what is fair and balanced, while shows like Countdown to Nothing with Keith Olbermann or Softball with the Screwball Chris Matthews are unstable and biased.

Here’s another secret. While you are crying about what you believe is the overwhelmingly biased coverage of one, “one”station, that you think is conservative, all those other so called news outfits that you like and listen to, well their ratings consistently come in well under those of Fox. So while you may hate Fox, believe it or not, a lot more people like Fox than they do your favorite liberal network.

Oh, and one other thing. I am a conservative and I can tell you this, Fox News may not be a liberal based outfit, but they are not conservative . If you were to compare Fox to any partisan politician, you would have to label them as a Rhino.  And I do not like Rhino’s very much.

Glenn Beck Show Identified By The Use Of Curse Words On T.V. Screens

Bookmark and Share   So there have been claims that the entertainment industry and the media have a liberal bias. The claim is nothing new. It is a charge that has existed for decades and one look at Hollywood, cable or network news or a newspaper and you can understand what has led to this allegation.
Screen shot of how how Optimum identifies the Glenn Beck Show - "Glenif*ck"

Screen shot of how Optimum identifies the Glenn Beck Show - "Glenif*ck"

Once esteemed news outlets such as The Grey Lady of New York, The New York Times has only helped to perpetuate claims of bias. Their recent history is strewn with examples of political favoritism rearing its ugly head in the form of editorialized news stories that deliver more opinion than fact.

But recently a most unorthodox display of bias played itself out on the most unlikely places.

Subscribers to Optimum, a cable television and internet service provider received a little surprise when going through their channel lineup or adjusting their DVR settings.

There among other programs during the same 5:00 pm time slot was the show Glenn Beck. But while other shows like StarGate or Star Trek or the Guiding Light were indicated by their correct spellings and names, the Glenn Beck Show was displayed as “ Glenif*ck “.

Could this be a glitch of some sort? Well maybe but it has to be a pretty selective and stealthy one and it would be a very coincidental one. As of late, Glenn Beck has caught on as one of the largest antagonists of the left to come down the pike since Sean Hanitty went national.

Beck’s defiant demeanor stems from a libertarian, not Republican, streak that infiltrates every school of thought that he present to his viewers and listeners. He has a tendency to throw a monkey wrench into policies that detract from the principles which founded our nation. He uses a rarely referred to document these days, the U.S. Constitution, to point out the problems with contemporary governance in America.

This frustrates many Obama fans and loyalists who disdain any comparisons between President Obama’s liberal socialist policies and actual socialism. So much so that when Glenn Beck became a hit and unattracted an unprecedented number of viewers for his time slot, the liberal media organized itself into a full court press attack on him. At one in April, when Beck’s popularity was first confirmed on the radar, liberal newspapers ran hit pieces on him for weeks.

This was a stark contrast to Lefty media critics who gushed about MSNBC’s boldness at giving a liberal lesbian in Rachel Maddow her own show. For he shallow interviews and lame attempts of humor, the public endured numerous stories of praise in periodicals.

It is clear that while Glenn Beck’s message is being widely received among a general population that is offended by the Gestapo style policies and tactics of the current ruling regime in Washington, the liberal elites have been offended and angered. But despite their disgust with the views expressed by Glenn Beck, none of them can effectively dispute his constitution based opinions and interpretations.

So one must question the legitimacy of his popular program being listed as Glenif*ck.

Will this be explained? Will the doubts about how Glenn Beck got translated into Glenif*ck even be addressed?

A skeptical community of Americans await an answer or at the very least an explanation. Inquiries in to the FCC and Optimum on this incident have yet to be answered but if they are, I’ll be sure to let you know what it may be. I won’t hold my breath waiting for an explanation though.

New Jersey Star Ledger Makes It Official

Bookmark and Share   Today I awoke and began my morning ritual which ends with a second cup of coffee and a review of the news.

U4PapersOne of my first stops on this morning “catch up” of events is The Star Ledger, one of New Jersey’s largest daily newspapers and one that I write guest editorial for. Of course since newspapers are becoming more and more obsolete, I check out the online version of this daily periodical. This morning, as the Star Ledger downloaded on my laptop screen I saw the bold headline “N.J. officials, N.Y. rabbis caught in federal money laundering, corruption sweep”.

I figured, “oh Lord, here we go again” another example of political corruption in one of the most politically corrupt states in the nation”.

As I read on, the story began:

“NEWARK — A New Jersey assemblyman and the mayors of Hoboken and Secaucus were among public officials arrested this morning by FBI agents in an international money laundering and corruption probe that includes rabbis in the Syrian Jewish communities of Deal and Brooklyn.

Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt (R-Ocean), Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell and Jersey City Council President Mariano Vega are among those already brought to the FBI building in Newark. Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini has also been arrested.”

After reading the second paragraph I suddenly lost track of the scandal which was the main thrust of the headline and article.

I was taken back by the fact that of the five elected officials at the focus of the account only one had his party affiliation identified, Assemblyman Dan Van Pelt.

The Mayors of Hoboken and Secaucus, and the Deputy Mayor and Council President of Jersey City are all Democrats but Van Pelt, who is a dual officeholder that occupies a seat and the state assembly while also serving as the Mayor of Ocean Township, is a Republican.

Upon realizing the blatant focus on Van Pelt’s party connection and the lack of such association for the other four culprits, the details of the allegations put forward in the purported news article became secondary and almost meaningless to me.

That is not to say that the scandal and its details are not alarming.  They are more than that, they are horrific.  They are just the tip to a plot that could involve a deeper and more notorious conspiracy.  But at the moment the shock of the Star Ledger’s blatant display of partisan favoritism took the thrust of the news that they attempted to present, right off the radar and on to the egregious nature in which they presented facts. The blatant political bias that the newspaper and author of the story, Joe Ryan, presented is what became the news to me.

The way that the paper presented this story broke one of the main tenets of journalism…..tell the story, do not become the story. By identifying the political allegiance of one and not and all the arrested parties in this unfolding scandal, the Star Ledger became just that……the story.

They became a perfect example of the left leaning proclivities that exists in journalism and news reporting today. They became a glaringly obvious purveyor of political bias that seeks to favor the image and impression of one political party over the other.

It would be one thing if the author of this piece, Joe Ryan, was a diehard liberal and could not help himself from making the sole mention of party affiliation in this scandal a reference to Republicans but it is another thing for the editorial staff to run with it unedited and uncorrected . Professional news outlets should have at least a scintilla of ethical judgment that allows them to be perceived as impartial deliverers of news and information.

The Star Ledger could at least try to make accusations about bias in the media a debatable question by trying to act impartial but I guess the fact that the mainstream media is a left leaning propaganda machine is taken so much for granted and such a given that even The Star Ledger has given up on trying to hide their favoritism.

The way in which this story was presented by Joe Ryan and the Ledger was disgraceful.. So much so that it overshadowed the story it tried to present and became a different headline, one that reads “New Jersey Star Ledger Makes It Official…Journalism Dies As Political Propaganda Prevails”.

The episode just goes to prove that Walter Cronkite is not the only hallmark of journalism to succumb to time. So has journalistic integrity.

As for my guest editorial in this newspaper, I do not think they will be publishing the topic I have chosen for next weeks edition.

POLITICS AND DINNER DON’T GO TOGETHER

I have to apologize here from the get go. The other night my partner Nick, and I went out to a local diner for a quick bite to eat. We were seated at a booth in between a group of four behind me and a group of three senior citizens behind Nick. While perusing the menu my ears caught the phrase “I don’t like Obama”. It came from one of the ladies in the group sitting behind Nick .

Being preoccupied by politics, certain buzz words like election, President, McCain, or Obama, catch my attention even when I am not paying attention.

So this older woman’s utterance of the word “Obama” lit up my on my radar screen. Even though it may have been impolite to pay attention to a conversation not involving me, I couldn’t help myself.

So I apologize for any impolite eavesdropping, that I may be guilty of. It wasn’t my intent but I’m a political junkie, and as such, this election season is for me what Christmas is to a wide eyed, little boy.  It’s like the Super Bowl to football fans and I am just in tune to any references to politics. Besides, to put it nicely, this woman was not using her inside voice. So curiosity got the best of me and I paid attention to the political opinion that was unfolding.

The woman went on to say “I don’t like Obama but he’s got my vote”. The woman explained further “those Republicans are only for the rich and big business”

At this point the waitress came over to take the orders of Nick and I. Being distracted, I let my partner order first and I than quickly determined what I wanted. With my attention taken off of the conversation that I was not a part of, Nick and I started our own banter.

When the waitress returned with our drink orders, both Nick and myself happened to hear that same woman I overheard earlier say “and that “McCann”, “he just wants to give tax breaks to big companies”. At this point I had just begun to take a sip of my Pepsi with lemon and no ice when she continued “and who are those big businesses to make as much money as they do. They shouldn’t be allowed to make that much money in the first place”.

Upon hearing that , I gagged on my soda. Having caught that remark from right behind him, Nick knew what the cause of my discomfort was.

We were about to eat and after having heard what I just heard, I could not allow myself to pay any further attention and still be able to stomach the meal I was about to eat.

Nick knew my blood pressure was rising and quickly tried to establish our own conversation and provide a diversion from that which had me fuming. Our food came and we discussed the details of the event we were heading out to DJ.

Through it all, I could not help but allow the words of that woman to echo in my head. I couldn’t stop wondering if she actually knew what she said. Did she really believe, that in America, people should only be allowed to make a certain amount of money? Did she actually believe Democrat talking points and accept them as the truth?

I thought to myself, how little this woman really knew and how misinformed she was. Yet, despite her lack of understanding , awareness and information, she threw her words out with total conclusiveness and decisiveness. This is a woman who referred to John McCain as “John McCann”. She didn’t even know his name yet she acted like a brilliant sage who proclaimed Republicans are only for the rich and that businesses should only be allowed to make a certain amount of money.

What this woman neglected to realize was that Republicans and “John McCann” do not believe in penalizing success. They do not support limiting opportunity or making our government some type of communist politburo that does everything from control your wages to determining what, how and where your children are educated. She didn’t understand that Republicans were not for the rich or sponsors of class warfare but that they didn’t believe in penalizing success or taxation that goes so far that it taxes the dead and buried. This bitter, jealous woman could not wrap her head around the fact that “John McCann” is not trying to keep her down but that he is trying to prevent government from holding her back.

All these thoughts raced through my mind as Nick and I ate and as I tried to focus on our own discussion.

We chatted away and finished up our meal but in the back of my head I could not stop thinking about how gullible this woman was. She actually believed in the liberal bumper sticker slogans and campaign catch phrases that promoted liberal socialist policies in brightly colored wrapping paper and big ribbons and bows. She admitted that she didn’t even like Barack Obama. Yet because he was a Democrat and since they were against the rich, she was for them.

Beyond angering me, it worried me. I worried about how many more people in America held her thinking and how many despised the free market that comes with our democracy? How many Americans were actually supporting socialism and wanted to adopt it as our way of life?

With our meal finished, I got up before Nick to find our waitress. I put on my McCain-Palin jacket, prominently, found the waitress and asked her for not only my check but for the check of the people at the table behind Nick. I told her that I wanted to pay for it. The waitress was taken back for a moment and said “Oh, Ok, here ya go”. After paying and getting my change, I asked if she could give me a blank dinner check to write a message on and that she could give to the customers I paid for. She handed one to me and I wrote:

“Dear Fellow Americans;
I paid your check.
I did so because this is still America and in it I can still make as much as my ambition, skill, and willingness to make allows. In it I am also still allowed to keep enough of it so that I can spend as much of it as I want and on what I want. If Barack Obama is elected he will determine all that for me. So enjoy my generosity while you can because if you get your way, we will all be losing our own ways.

P.S.: John McCain is the man trying to preserve democracy. Tom McCann is the company you buy your shoes from.”

Upon leaving the diner with Nick, and after paying for more meals than I expected, just to make a point, I realized that just like the government should do, I too should mind my own business.

  A Quickie

One day George W. Bush and Dick Cheney walk into a diner. A waitress walks up to them and asks if she can take their order. Bush leans close to her and says, “Honey, can I have a quickie?”

The waitress is appalled and yells at the President about women’s rights and storms away.

Cheney then says to Bush, “George, its pronounced ‘quiche’.”

An Open Letter To Keith Olbermann and NBC.

Failed Sportscaster, and Demoted Newsman Keith Olbermann, The New Tokyo Rose

Dear Depraved, Liar;
I happened to see your low rated program “Countdown with Keith Olbermann”. I would have turned you off like most Americans do but I was curious. I wondered if you were as big a schmuck as I have been told you were. Like passing a car wreck on the Garden State Parkway, I just had to look and see if it was possible for a news station to be as irresponsible as I have been told NBC is.

Not only did I find that it was possible, I was stunned by the outright lies and offensiveness of the so called program you attempted to get through, . For almost thirty minutes you polluted the air with disgusting innuendos, blatant lies, and the greatest amount of disinformation ever transmitted since Tokyo Rose tried to discourage American troops from carrying out their valiant missions to defend democracy. For me, you were even more offensive than Tokyo Rose. She was not an American. She was not operating under any rules of decency or fairness. You however, are suppose to be, and yet, you flout those qualities as if they were Sunday comic strips.

You conduct yourself in a way that strips any sense of integrity or decency away from NBC. It is no wonder why they have placed you on their sagging cable news outlet, MSNBC. It would also explain why MSNBC is so low in the ratings.

What I do wonder about is how they can possibly keep putting you on any air?

You failed at your job as a sportscaster, and somehow got utilized by NBC for delivering the news. Since then you have proved incompetent and along with your sidekick, Chris Mathews, got booted from that job and now you are left only with your appearance in a goofball, commentary segment.

After seeing your performance, I have concluded that you must be offering sexual favors to some important troll at NBC. It is the only apparent reason that anyone could possibly have for employing you.

On your program you lied exactly 13 times about John McCain and  9 times about Sarah Palin, the only two people that your show discussed.   Additionally, you called them racists and liars.  In the past you have even accused John McCain of treason and through it all you never once made a reference to any facts.

Your despicable conduct, irrational behavior, prejudiced judgment and skewed logic has no place in an intelligent society.

Beyond that, the blatant hatred that you conveyed in your fairy tales, during this program, carried over. They conjured up the same sense of hatred for you that you aired for those who are not liberals, So much so that I must relay my own wishes for you.

After witnessing your despicable program, it is my deepest hope that you are blown out of your ivory tower and have your legs and arms broken as you fall to the earth where a group of wild thugs spit on you while punching and kicking you. Then, with almost every bone in your body broken, I sincerely hope they throw you into a New York City sewer for 5 years, where you are fed a piece of bread a day and left to drink the raw sewerage that flows around you. And through it all, I want NBC to repeatedly report, day after day, that for your efforts, you are being accused of turning your back on any and all sense of journalistic integrity and for treason to the United States.

You should be forced to endure the same conditions that the man you ridicule, belittle and lie about, endured during his service for and to our country.

But you, Mr. Olbermann, are not alone in the need for public denunciation. The corporate goons who afford you the opportunity to play the role of a modern day Tokyo Rose should pay even more dearly.

The dwindling ratings of NBC, due to mediocre programming, has been forcing them to scramble for survival for more than two years. Their hopes for MSNBC to help alleviate the suffering of it’s parent company has failed. MSNBC loses out to all other competitors and now they are having trouble selling air time to advertisers. Circumstances such as this are not only expected, but their irresponsible conduct in airing people, such as yourself, makes these results well deserved.

NBC is allowing you to fan the flames of hatred. They are allowing you to exploit a polarized electorate by polarizing them even more. NBC is allowing you to plant the seeds of anger during one of our nations most important moments, a national election. IT is a time when we must all be responsible in determining the direction we will head in and yet NBC uses it as an opportunity to breed anger.

Mr. Olbermann, I write these things not in an attempt for ratings or the undeserved, lucrative paycheck that you receive, I write this to you because your behavior can not be ignored and because it should not be kept the great secret that your low ratings allow it to be. I write this because responsible people should take it upon themselves to denounce such conduct and demand that it not be rewarded. I also write this to let you know that through your lies, false accusations and deceit, your hateful objectives have achieved their goal. They have created anger, but that anger is not aimed at the targets you hoped. It is directed towards you.

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said someone may steal from it at night; so they created a night watchman, GS-4 position, and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, “How does the watchman do his job without instruction?” So they created a planning division and hired two (2) people, one person to write the instructions (GS-12) and one person to do time studies (GS-11).

Then Congress said, “How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?” So they created a quality control (QC) division and hired two (2) people, one (GS-9) to do the studies and one (GS-11) to write the reports.

Then Congress said, “How are these people going to get paid?” So they created a payroll division with a time keeper (GS-9) and a payroll officer (GS-11), and hired two (2) people.

Then Congress said, “Who will be accountable for all of these people?” So they created an administrative division and hired three (3) people: an Admin Officer (GM-13), Assistant Admin Officer (GS-13), and a Legal Secretary (GS-8).

Then, one year later, Congress reviewed the operation of the desert scrap yard and said, “We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $18,000 over budget. We must cut back overall costs!” So they eliminated the night watchman

FRANK RALEIGH LAUTENBERG AND NEW JERSEY…PERFECT TOGETHER?

I recently had a conversation with a friend who was quite active in New York politics. He served on many a presidential campaigns and was the campaign voice for several local and statewide officials in New York. He has long since retired and moved away but during this conversation I mentioned Frank Lautenberg’s name and he said “Lautenberg, is he still around?” I chuckled and explained that you wouldn’t know it but he is still there. I really had no obvious evidence to point to his existence but I assured him that Frank was still there and that he was running to stay there.

After that conversation, I got to thinking , why did Frank Lautenberg run again? I mean back in 1982 Lautenberg ran for the United States Senate and he started off as a major force. During his first term he was the impetus behind the raising of the legal drinking age to 21 in all states by linking federal funding for their highways to their raising the legal age. He also revolutionized the airline industry by successfully authoring legislation that eliminated smoking on planes. But since then his, legislative activism and personal leadership has waned, In 2001, after 3 terms in office, he fittingly retired, only to come out of retirement to replace Senator Bob Torricelli on the ballot in his doomed re-election effort. Although state and party laws deny anyone the ability to replace a nomination within days of an election, the New Jersey Supreme court decided that laws do not matter and allowed Torricelli , who was under investigation for criminal conduct, to be taken off the ballot and replaced by someone who had a better chance to win the election. That person was Lautenberg.

Lautenberg didiwon that election, but what did Lautenberg’s return from retirement bring us? Aside from proving that the law did not matter and that he was above it, his six years since then have produced little, very little.

Oh Frank is a reliable liberal vote in Washington. He was counted on to support opposition to the efforts to combat terrorism. He was counted on to vote for any and every tax hike that came out of the collective congressional agenda. But aside from being a reliable vote for the liberal agenda, Frank did little for New Jersey and he did even less when it came to bringing any new energy for new ideas or directions. It seemed that Frank’s only major accomplishments were achieved back in the early 80’s when his once fresh voice led the way to sensible reforms that in some cases saved lives.

Credit must be given when and where credit is due and so, Lautenberg’s two landmark initiatives are to his credit. But after 24 years of legislating in the federal government on behalf of New Jersey, where is the credit that he once deserved to be re-elected for today. Since his 1982 -1988 stint, there is little merit that warrants electing Lautenberg to any of the terms since then.

The only level of increased activity that Lautenberg has demonstrated exists within his staff. It is a staff that has one of the largest numbers and highest payrolls in the senate. His chief of staff earns one of the highest salaries offered on Capitol Hill to any other colleague with the same title and responsibilities. As Lautenberg’s Chief of Staff, Daniel Katz has earned $81,183.59 just between October 2007 and March of 2008. Compared to others this is no measly sum of money. Yet, I do not begrudge Daniel Katz the money. He earns it.

He must work hard to control and motivate the other 52 staffers that account for Lautenberg’s senate activity. Daniel Katz must also work twice hard to make his inactive Senator appear busy and productive. It is a job that cannot be done alone. That is why Lautenberg’s staff includes 12 legislative assistants, aides and directors, who between October of last year and March of this year have been paid a combined total of three and a quarter hundred thousand dollars or to be exact $324,786.75.

Oddly enough along with having state directors and deputy state directors Frank also has a South Jersey Director and two Deputy South Jersey Directors and an assistant to the South Jersey Director. Now we all know that that New Jersey is famous for it’s extraordinarily large size. At 7,418 square miles it ranks as the 46th largest state in the nation. But these South Jersey, patronage, posts reflect less of a legislative need than a political need. Congressman Rob Andrews who challenged Frank for the democrat nomination is from South Jersey and most of the rumblings to replace Lautenberg come out of South Jersey.

These South Jersey directors have earned a combined $58,437.42 during the five months between October ‘07 and March ‘08. Add to this another $99,579.61 which has been paid to state and deputy state directors during the same time period.

The rest of Lautenberg’s staff consists of a rarely used speech writer along with an executive director, press secretaries, schedulers, constituent service directors, specialists, handlers and assistants, legal counselors, legislative directors, assistants and specialists. It also includes a legislative correspondent, director of correspondence, systems administrator, special project coordinators and numerous staff assistants.

In total, Lautenberg’ 53 staffers, and five month, nearly one and a half million dollar payroll ($1,437497.80), must work hard to make a sitting Senator who has little initiative to point to, look active and productive.

Everyday, leading up to his race for the nomination against Andrews, Lautenberg’s staff has produced countless press releases staking a position on an issue. In fact his staff has been responsible for the Herculean task of trying to demonstrate Frank Lautenberg as a constructive part of government in the face of his lack of real initiatives.

Let’s face it. Since Lautenberg’s first term 27 years ago, he has nothing to show for it. His latest claim is that he insured that the federal Homeland Security money provided to New Jersey is doled out on the basis of need. Accept for a press release, Frank did not correct the problem that existed in this area. Republican state legislators brought up a lawsuit against the state after revealing that Homeland security money was being given out only to districts that had Democrat lawmakers representing them. The Corzine administration was allocating money meant to shore up security in our state based on politics, not need. Frank Lautenberg’s press releases did not change this immoral activity, the threatened lawsuit brought about by Republicans did. But I guess if you have little effort or action of your own to point to, your staff must take every opportunity to make their boss look good.

Making Frank look good is a hard job though. In his days since 1982, Frank bitterly clings to his only major accomplishments, raising the drinking age and prohibiting smoking on airplanes.

His subsequent representation of New Jersey since then has not produced much else. In fact due to the democrats representing us in the U.S. Senate, New Jersey continues to be one of the lowest ranked states in terms of our return on the tax dollars that we send to Washington. Together, Lautenberg and Menendez have been unable to get much bang for our buck and through it all they maintain their liberal mantra that helps to continue the crisis of affordability that exists in New Jersey.

Perhaps the greatest shame in all this is not, the lack of initiative or leadership that an 84 year old man has in Washington, DC. but rather that the state of New Jersey does not have the ability to produce a citizen that can provide leadership in D.C.

Republican nominee Dick Zimmer is a worthy candidate. He has a good, proven twelve year record serving in congress as a representative from New Jersey. He has commendable views on policies pertaining to energy and the economy. His views on foreign policy are more attuned to the times and better suited for the times than the liberal, tea with terrorists approach that Lautenberg liberals take. But in New Jersey, none of this matters. The Republican party of this state has yet to get it’s act together and put forth an agenda that offers a clear difference from today’s ruling class liberals.

Even Dick Zimmer, as capable as he is, can not wage a decent campaign against Lautenberg.  The state G.O.P. has been unable to raise sufficient funds for our candidates. Current fund raising records show that Dick Zimmer has raised a few hundred thousand dollars, while the aging, millionaire, founder of one of the nations largest payroll companies, Frank Lautenberg, has a couple of million for his campaign.

It is also a shame that New Jersey operates under such a shroud of hypocrisy. The hypocrisy of a candidate who first took office in 1982 by attacking his opponent, Millicent Fenwick, for her age which at the time was in her low 70’s. The hypocrisy of a man who came out of retirement and was resurrected by breaking laws that switched his name in place of a candidate that was losing. The hypocrisy of a man who is elected to office to do things for New Jersey but has actually accomplished little for New Jersey in over two decades.

It is all a shame but it is a shame that New Jersey deserves. We deserve what we get and in Frank Lautenberg what we get is an aging fat cat, devoid of ideas and drive and propped up by an over million and a half dollar staff that is occupied by patronage posts that are charged with making Lautenberg look productive.

There is one thing New Jersey will accomplish when it keeps Lautenberg on the job for us. It will break a record and make Lautenberg the longest serving United States Senator in New Jersey’s history. That s something but it doesn’t mean much when it comes to the benefits we have gotten out of that long service, or should I say lack of benefit.
