Sean Bielat vs. Barney Frank: A Race Between Right & Wrong

Bookmark and Share    Brewing in Massachusetts is a battle of symbolically epic proportions. In one corner sit’s the energetic Sean Bielart. In the other corner sit’s the slovenly Barney Frank. Perhaps here in the 4th Congressional District of Massachusetts, lies a election contest that epitomizes the differences between Democrats and Republicans more so than any other single race in America.

Bielat and Frank are diametrically opposed on just about every major issue that confronts America today. But in many ways, the Bielat-Frank battle is more than just a race between the left and the right. It is a race between right and wrong.

On the right side is a candidate who believes in a limited government that practices fiscal responsibility, sustainable job growth, states rights, reasonable debate and rational discussion. On the wrong side sit’s a candidate that practices, endorses and promotes endless and reckless spending, the growth of unsustainable government jobs, federal intrusion and obnoxious discourse that includes personal arrogance and sarcastic name calling.

In the right is Major Sean Bielat, a first time candidate, private businessman and Marine who believes in focusing on economic growth and fiscal responsibility, peace through strength and in a return to Constitutional values and citizen-legislators.

In the wrong is 15 term, entrenched Congressman Barney Frank, a career politician who went from the state legislature to the House of Representatives where he has spent nearly three decades recklessly spending our nation into oblivion, ignoring the dangers of his own legislation and legislative leadership, cutting backroom deals, belittling his constituents and colleagues with name calling, and trying to avoid the public scrutiny of the political scandals that he has been at the center of.

Now it can admittedly be argued whether or not government spending is right or wrong, or whether any position on any specific issue is right or wrong or liberal or conservative. But the assertion that Maj. Bielat is right and Congressman Frank is wrong, is based on much more than ideology. It is based on character, the Constitution and even experience.

While Rep. Frank has experience in only elected office, Maj. Bielat has experience in public service through the military and as Chairman of the NATO Industrial Armaments Group, a team that he led in studying the potential for use of advanced reconnaissance technology in urban warfare. Bielat has experience as a management consultant and as a program manager for iRobot Corporation where he led a $100 million, 100 person business that provides life-saving defense robots used to destroy roadside bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maj. Bielat also has experience as a businessman and independent consultant who has helped clients and companies build market strategies that increase sales, production, and job growth.

While Barney Frank has well over 35 years of experience in government, Sean Bielat has decades of experience in the real world, the world that is effected by actions government takes and the decisions that aloof, Washington insiders and political powerbrokers like Frank make.

But right and wrong in Massachusetts’ 4th C.D. election is not solely based on experience, even though for many Bielat’s real life experience is much more refreshing than Frank’s experience as a Beltway liberal and Washington insider. Right and wrong here is also determined by the character of the men in question and the respect they show to the positions they hold and the people they serve.

In his service, Maj. Bielat has an unblemished record of serving the public in the Marines, honorably. And in the private sector, he has respectfully worked with and for the clients that he served.

Congressman Bawny Fwank

For his part, Congressman Frank has infamously responded to his constituents and colleagues with name calling and a  flippant air of arrogance which reflects his delusional sense of superiority over those who elect him and those who he serves with. And beyond his lack of respect for the people, is an even greater demonstration of arrogance and a mentality that exhibits Frank’s knack for believing that he is above the law and need not live by the laws he has a hand in establishing.

During his three decades as a Beltway insider, Frank has admitted to having paid Stephen L. Gobie, a male prostitute, for sex and subsequently hiring Gobie as his personal assistant, all while Gobie ran a prostitution ring out of Frank’s D.C. townhouse.

There were other legal troubles such as a brush with the House banking scandal in the early 90’s and the most recent ethical breach to have been discovered was one that involved his conflict of interest with his position as Chairman of the House Banking Committee and his long-term romantic relationship with Herb Moses, a Director with Fannie Mae. Fannie Mae happens to be under the jurisdiction of the banking committee and as Barney Frank’s boyfriend was pushing to have the federal government relax lending restrictions for unqualified recipients, Congressman Frank was rejecting calls to investigate the practices of Fannie Mae and to tighten lending restrictions.

Since then, it has become painfully obvious that the lack of action regarding just how far Fannie Mae could go in lending money to unqualified homebuyers, helped put Fannie Mae at the epicenter of the financial meltdown that has thrown the U.S. economy into disarray.

It doesn’t take a genius to see that by having as his boyfriend, a top exec at a firm that stands to gain from the laws that you are in the forefront of, is a conflict of interest. But few conflicts of interest result in the downfall of a world economy.

Barney Frank’s refusal to take appropriate action on the practices of Fannie Mae, something which Republicans warned of the need for in 2006, makes Frank one of the few people directly responsible for the banking crisis that tightened up the flow of money and resulted in one of the most sluggish economies in decades.

These are just some of the reasons why the race for Congress in Massachusetts 4th C.D. has become a race between right wrong and more than one between left and right.

Sean Bielat is in every way, shape and form the antithesis of Barney Frank.

While Frank spends, Bielat wants to save. While Frank talks down to voters, Bielat talks with voters and while Bielat understands the need to abide by the law, Frank believes he is above the law. Understanding that only gives rise to one question ……..  how long can the people of Massachusetts tolerate Frank? Frank’s efforts do not simply effect the people of one district in Massachusetts. His work is effecting the entire nation. His efforts have helped to give birth to rising deficits, greater debt, less consumer confidence, more unemployment and a loss of trust in the collective decisions that Congress makes.

What will it take to finally reject the politics of patronage and pranks? What will it take for voters to say that after thirty years, Barney Frank is too entrenched in the politics of Party and personal privilege to represent the true needs of the people who he is so far removed from?

Now more than ever is the time to retire the professional politics of Barney Frank. It’s time for a citizen legislator to take his place and represent the needs of the people, not the needs of his self and of his Party.

If there was ever a time and place for someone like Barney Frank to be issued his pink slip, it is now and in Massachusetts.

Ten months ago, like the warnings of Paul Revere during his legendary ride, voters of Massachusetts sent Democrats a message. At the time it was just a signal, a signal sent up into the air when Massachusetts chose to have Republican Scott Brown succeed liberal lion Ted Kennedy in the United States Senate. Since then that Republican ripple has turned into a total Republican romp that is turning this years election map “Brown”.  But the romp won’t be complete if the very same people who started the Republican revival, reward Barney Frank with another term in office. The statement for change will not be fully made if Barney Frank is allowed to continue the politics of his past into the policy making process of our future.

To ask for lightning to strike the same place twice is a lofty goal but given the dramatically disrespectful, disgraceful and despicable product of thirty years of scandals and mistakes, not only is asking for lightning to strike the same place appropriate, it is worthy of us planting mile high lightning rods and flying from their peaks, kites with keys attached to their tethers.

For that reason, it is incumbent on those who are fed up with the way things are going in America, to focus their attention on one of the members of Congress whom best represents all that we hate about politics. Aside from Nancy Pelosi, that person is Barney Frank, a man who symbolizes all that is wrong with federal government and all that we want to change in American politics.

That is why I am asking that you take the time to assist the effort to defeat Frank. Take the time to donate whatever you can spare to the campaign of Maj. Sean Bietlat.  Send him a note of encouragement and do your part in insuring that this November, change is truly served by ridding our halls of government of those whom pollute the political atmosphere, corrode the halls of government and throw America deeper into debt and the hands of socialism. Show your support for real change. Show your support for Maj. Bietlat and your dissatisfaction with Barney Frank.

As for those of you who believe that it will be impossible to unseat Frank, under normal circumstances I would agree. The voter registration for the four counties contained in the 4th C.D. (as of October 2008), had the numbers at  at a total enrollment of , 2,072,793 with  751,174 registered Democrats, 206,326 registered Republicans, and 860,140 Unenrolled. With figures like that, it is easy to see why Frank usually has an easy reelection. It helps explain how in 2008, when President Obama had long coattails, Frank won with 68% of the total vote.

But 2010 presents us with a situation that is far from normal. Nothing is “usual” this year. This year Republicans are likely to win more seats in the House than they have had since 1946. I believe that the G.O.P will pick up as many as at least 62 seats in the House and are likely to pick up 10 seats in the senate. This would mark one of the quickest comebacks of a Party in our history. Less than two years ago, Democrats were discussing the death of the G.O.P.. Liberals were suggesting that Republicans were going the way of the Whigs. And at the time, it may in fact have seemed like that. But since then, Democrats have taken the optimism of the American people and turned it into hatred. Hatred for the system, the process and the establishment running the system. That is why we have seen the birth of the TEA Party, and record numbers of incumbents lose their bids for renomination. It was also the reason that blue Massachusetts went Brown for Scott Brown when it came to replacing Ted Kennedy in the Senate.

And in that election, just ten months ago, despite the overwhelming plurality of Democrats in Frank’s congressional district, Scott Brown beat his Democrat opponent Martha Coakley by more than 1,700 votes.

Combine that with a national trend for change that involves anti-establishment, anti-incumbent and anti-Democrat sentiments and the fact that Sean Bielat, a virtual unkown, has shrunk Frank’s lead in the polls to 10%, a difference that is closer than Frank has seen in most any of his races, and what you have is the possibility of pulling off what at one time seemed impossible.

That is why now more than ever, hope for ridding ourselves of Barney Frank must be kept alive and the enthusiasm to defeat him must be kicked into high gear.   But even if the effort behind Bielat falls short this time around, remember this.  Defeating Barney Frank could require a two step process, a process that requires us in 2010 to make it known that defeating Frank is not impossible and in 2012, when even more voters turnout to vote, actually doing it and replacing Frank with Bielat.

But whether we get rid of Barney Frank now or later, it’s up to you to begin the process.  Donate to Maj. Bielat’s campaign for commonsense and a constitutional citizen legislature.  As Bielat notes;

Barney Frank can raise huge amounts of money, much of it from special interests looking for his help. Competing with Barney will be a David and Goliath struggle, but we can do it with your help”.

Just think of how much more refreshing and functional government would be without Barney Frank looking down on you and think of just how much you will regret not having helped retire him after seeing how close Maj. Bielat comesthe dream of sending Frank home can come true.   With your help, that dream can become reality. Without your help, it will remain a goal out of our reach.

The G.O.P.’s Last Chance & The Republican Pledge To America

Facsimile of the original draft of the United ...

A New Contract

Bookmark and Share    Congressional Republicans have finally adopted a message to stand behind in this November’s mid-term elections and beyond.  I personally believe it lacks the type of specific legislation action that Americans can truly wrap their heads around.  But the Pledge To America is strong and with the use of  somewhat broad strokes, hopefully it is a pledge that will not be lost on deaf ears, for as a whole, the Republican Party has failed to live up to the principles of the ideology that differentiate them from today’s liberal-Democrats.

That failure has given rise to the TEA Party movement.

Now with Republicans seemingly having finally understood why they lost control of Congress and the White House, they have drafted a pledge that directly fulfills the desires of the TEA movemnet.

Many months ago, I proposed a  pledge which outlined specific legislative goals, I called it the Pledge of Committment.  I felt it was neccessary then to rally behind a set of goals that would help nationalize the election and turn the wrongly defined “Party of No” into the Party that has a mission and that stands for something more than more government.  The pledge the G.O.P. has settled upon now is late in the game but it is a solid one, one that conveys a sense of understanding by Republicans, unde4rstanding of what the people want.

Now the only question is, will the G.O.P. live up to the committment?  Will they remain as unwavering in their pledge as the TEA Party members who helped give rise to that pledge?  Will Republicans remain unwavering in the face of a President whom opposes all that the people want?  Only time will tell, but this is probably the last time Republicans will have a chance like this again, so they better not blow it.

The pledge is powerful and it strikes the emotional and constitutional chords that a vast majority agree with, but if the collective actions of Republicans who hold office betray these powerful words over the next two years and prove that these words are hollow political points, than Republicans will be lost in the wilderness for decades to come.

The Republican Pledge To America

America is more than a country.

America is an idea – an idea that free people can govern themselves, that government’s powers are derived from the consent of the governed, that each of us is endowed by their Creator with the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. America is the belief that any man or woman can – given economic, political, and religious liberty – advance themselves, their families, and the common good.

America is an inspiration to those who yearn to be free and have the ability and the dignity to determine their own destiny.

Whenever the agenda of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to institute a new governing agenda and set a different course.

These first principles were proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence, enshrined in the Constitution, and have endured through hard sacrifice and commitment by generations of Americans. In a self-governing society, the only bulwark against the power of the state is the consent of the governed, and regarding the policies of the current government, the governed do not consent.

An unchecked executive, a compliant legislature, and an overreaching judiciary have combined to thwart the will of the people and overturn their votes and their values, striking down long-standing laws and institutions and scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people.

An arrogant and out-of-touch government of self-appointed elites makes decisions, issues mandates, and enacts laws without accepting or requesting the input of the many.

Rising joblessness, crushing debt, and a polarizing political environment are fraying the bonds among our people and blurring our sense of national purpose. Like free peoples of the past, our citizens refuse to accommodate a government that believes it can replace the will of the people with its own. The American people are speaking out, demanding that we realign our country’s compass with its founding principles and apply those principles to solve our common problems for the common good. The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated. With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America.

We pledge to honor the Constitution as constructed by its framers and honor the original intent of those precepts that have been consistently ignored – particularly the Tenth Amendment, which grants that all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

We pledge to advance policies that promote greater liberty, wider opportunity, a robust defense, and national economic prosperity. We pledge to honor families, traditional marriage, life, and the private and faith-based organizations that form the core of our American values.

We pledge to make government more transparent in its actions, careful in its stewardship, and honest in its dealings.

We pledge to uphold the purpose and promise of a better America, knowing that to whom much is given, much is expected and that the blessings of our liberty buoy the hopes of mankind.

We make this pledge bearing true faith and allegiance to the people we represent, and we invite fellow citizens and patriots to join us in forming a new governing agenda for America.

LIBERALS GONE WILD AND THE AXIS OF IDIOCY

First there was “Girls Gone Wild” and their countless sequels. Then came “Boys Gone Wild” and even “Guys Gone Wild” and their continuous stream of subsequent follow ups. Volume after volume of guys and girls baring it all for hordes of horny, voyeurs hoping to satisfy their lusts through store bought compact discs.

Well hold on to your pants folks. Brace yourself for the newest edition of the “Gone Wild” series.

It’s “Liberals Gone Wild” and you wont have to call a 1-800 number and charge $19.95 for it with your credit card. All you have to do is vote for Barack Obama on Election Day and it will satisfy the lust of liberals all across the land. Their lusts. Lusts for bigger government and higher taxes. Their lusts for negotiating with terrorists and deciding America’s fate based on the opinions of the United Nations.

By simply voting for Barack Obama on Election Day all of this and more can be yours but it’s not free. It comes with a hefty price. It’s also broken. Liberals Gone Wild is not something you can turn off. You can’t just pop it out of your compact disc player and play something else. Liberals Gone Wild will stay on and run amuck, unimpeded and uninterrupted for at least two years.

Once your vote for Obama buys you a copy of Liberals Gone Wild, you will be revealing more than bare breasts or swinging schlongs , you’ll be revealing the naked truth of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, the nations liberal leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives, and the revelation is not very attractive.

Their scantily clad objectives are not filled with any titillating sights or actions. The naked truth of their socialist agenda simply sets our nation on a course that is so radical and so closely aligned with socialism that our nation’s government will have more in common with Cuba than any of the intended principles of our own nation’s constitution.

In the past that constitution has insured that America’s greatest strength was always in it’s people.

Individual Americans have been the impetus to our success and history is strewn with examples of how our people’s sense of drive and responsibility won the day for us. Even when our nation faced it’s greatest challenges, any successful directions offered by our government was only made successful if and when the people were behind it. Yet, by voting for Barack Obama, we are essentially making it clear that we want the bureaucracy of a government to decide all that we should decide for ourselves.

Despite the importance of individuality and independent initiative and entrepreneurial spirit, Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have confidently and consistently pushed an agenda that attempts to legislate everything from the educational choices, quality and opportunities of our children to how much money can be made in the private sector. Their sense of fairness dictates that all must suffer the consequences of government fiats.

Since they took control of congress almost two years ago their efforts to adopt their socialist agenda have been stymied, to a point. Their small majorities were not large enough to totally steamroll the principles of freedom that Americans have come to appreciate.

But all that is about to change. By elevating the most liberal member of the government’s collective, elected leadership to the presidency, Barack Obama will make it possible for the combined socialist agenda of his liberal comrades to prevail. With Obama at the helm, Pelosi and Reid will have no obstacles.

Their class warfare will rage on and personal success will be treated as a goal that needs to be penalized in an attempt to “spread the wealth”. Beyond that, in this Obama, Pelosi and Reid, special edition of Liberals Gone Wild, the successful in America are blamed for the conditions of the less successful. They are put forth as the enemy and the source of all that ails people and government.

On top of their class warfare games, the far left menage-a-tois of Obama, Pelosi and Reid will rejuvenate failed policies of the past as false keys to a better tomorrow. Initiatives such as Jimmy Carter’s, 1977 Community Reinvestment Act and Bill Clinton‘s expansion of that in the form of the American Homeownership Initiative will not simply be reformed, they will be expanded. This will be done despite the fact that both programs helped to create the current banking crisis by forcing banks to engage in risky lending practices to those who could not afford to pay back such loans.

Together the trio will swear to move us into energy independence while they restrict the independence of participants in the market and make it impossible to drill for domestic sources of energy or limit the exploration for such natural resources.

Unchecked and in total control, the liberal Axis of Idiocy will implement the most liberal agenda we have ever seen. From expanding the current burgeoning government bureaucracy by raising taxes and making it more expensive to operate to increasing risks to our national security, liberals will be like children locked in a candy shop after the doors have closed and the staff has gone home. Even before their lies achieve any confirmed coup of liberal dominance, this trio has already begun to conspire over a trillion dollars of new spending. New spending that will be funded by the millions of Americans whom they wish to control. A control that they hope to have by legislating everything from our opinions and ways of thinking to the medical treatment available to us.

This liberal Axis will allow for the unimpeded approval of liberal justices who want to write law rather than interpret law. This goes not only for the selection of one or maybe even two supreme court justices, it involves thousands of judicial appointments that are given to a President after congressional approval. Approval that Pelosi and Reid will reinforce so long as Obama’s appointments pass the proper liberal litmus tests.

We are about to enter dangerous territory. It is the same type of territory that Republicans entered when in 2000 they added the White House to the list of government branches that they controlled.

After almost 6 years of total control, Republicans unchecked power allowed them to become complacent. The lack of true competition in government philosophies allowed them to stray away from their own intended missions. The power went to their heads and they paid a price for it. They lost in 2006. The cycle is about to repeat itself. Liberals will be in total control. The far fetched initiatives of their far left leadership will now become a staple of American government. The extremist policies of Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, Ted Kennedy, Dennis Kucinich, Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin and other liberal icons are now about to become mainstream, American government policies. It will be a tough two years. And it will take at least 3 times as long to recover from, but it will done.

When America sees liberals in action, the full effect of liberals who are not held back in any way, they will quickly resort to change, yet again. Just like in 1994, when two years of a government led by liberals in the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate caused the electorate to put the breaks on that. If Obama does actually somehow convince Americans that he can do more than run for higher offices, and elect him President, they will undoubtedly correct that course quickly too. Hopefully the damage done by them in two years can be in fact corrected quickly. The only problem there is that we can not afford a damaging blow to our national security. When it comes to our nation’s security, it only takes one mistake to cost us more than we can afford.

Hopefully it will not take something so drastic to teach us a lesson . Something like the national security crisis that Joe Biden swears we will encounter if Barack Obama is elected President. It is not a risk I am willing to take. That is one reason why John McCain has my support. It is one reason why I am not willing to hand over the entirety of our government to a group of people who, for the last two years have, provided one of the most unproductive legislative sessions in recent history. It is just one among many reasons but it is one of the most important reasons.

4 Doctors Talk Politics!

An Israeli doctor said, “Medicine in my country is so advanced, we can take a kidney out of one person, put it in another and have him looking for work in six weeks.”

A German doctor said “That’s nothing! In Germany, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another and have him looking for work in four weeks.”

A Russian doctor said, “In my country, medicine is so advanced, we can take half a heart from one person, put it in another and have them both looking for work in two weeks.”

The American doctor, not to be outdone, said “Hah! We are about to take an asshole out of Illinois, put him in the White House and half the country will be looking for work the next day.”

WHY THE LIBERAL ESTABLISHMENT IS FIXATED ON SARAH PALIN

As far away from the dysfunctional mentality of politics as Alaska is from Washington, D.C.

As far away from the dysfunctional mentality of politics as Alaska is from Washington, D.C.

There are quite a few critics of Sarah Palin out there. They don’t outnumber her supporters but they are louder than those who stand by her. Her supporters are not among the Hollywood elite or the newsroom water coolers. They are not the ones at the Emmy’s accepting trophies for their mindless portrayal of some lovelorn, sex and drug addicted, mistress on a never ending daytime soap opera. They’re not the ones sitting on sofas and describing their view of things while they wave their diamond, bedazzled fingers in the air during animated conversations from the insides of a studio.

No, supporters of Sarah Palin are the people who are hard at work during the day establishing their views based upon the real lives that they live. They are the people who appreciate the changing courses in Sarah Palin’s life which brought her to the vice presidential nomination.

Her critics like to make of fun her religious values and belittle her mayoral experience. When making fun of those characteristics doesn’t get them far, they attribute fictitious actions to her in the name of her faith or in the line of her duty. Yet, admirers of Palin appreciate the changing paths that brought her leadership to them. They appreciate the fact that by drawing from her personal, religious faith, she has functioned with sincerity, bravery , confidence and conviction. And she has done so without enforcing that personal faith on others and intruding on their own beliefs.

For all those who denounce Sarah Palin and her selection for the vice presidential nomination, I suggest that they take forty minutes out of their lives and get a grip on their loose cannon critiques of her. Pick up a copy of….

SARAH: How A Hockey Mom Turned
Alaska’s Political
Establishment Upside Down
by Kaylene Johnson, Epic Press

Long before Sarah Palin was nominated for Vice President, Alaskan author Kaylene Johnson penned this quick read because she felt the story around this new Governor of Alaska was remarkable. Obviously she was right. The 140 or so pages of this paperback, details Palin’s path from small town girl to big time leader.

In it you get a sense of her unintentional role as David going after Goliath and you come to realize that Sarah Palin is not your typical politician You will understand that she never set out to conquer the world. She simply set out to do her part in the world and fell into circumstances that forced her right the wrongs she found and to stop those who tried to use the system to short change the people around them. As each page in this book turns you develop a sense of how Sarah Palin was never driven to put her name on any ballot to fulfill some aching desire for greatness or the admiration of millions. Unlike many vain politicians who seek the praise of others and set out to achieve personal greatness, Sarah truly set out to do what she felt needed to be done and in doing so, greatness found her.

It is a simple story but it is also a powerful one One that will allow people to understand why John McCain selected this woman who was relatively unknown to the lower 48, but is a hero to fellow Alaskans. Readers will come to realize that Sarah Palin was not picked for looks or her gender or to try to win over jilted Hillary supporters. She was picked because she is a doer and because she is as far removed from the dysfunctional mentality and workings of Washington as her state is. She was picked because her direction and leadership offers what all Americans, regardless of their gender, needs…….honesty, integrity and sincerity of purpose. You will see that in choosing Sarah Palin, John McCain took on a partner who is the antithesis of all that is wrong in politics. Someone who cares not about the comfort of the political class but the needs of the working class.

If you think you hate Sarah Palin or if you thought you liked her, read this book.

After reading it, Palin critics will have to reassess their opinions and mindless attacks Fans of Palin will be wanting to run her for President instead of John McCain and they will better understand why the left is infatuated with here and fixated on tearing her down.

George W. Bush, in an airport lobby, noticed a man in a long flowing white robe with a long flowing white beard and flowing white hair. The man had a staff in one hand and some stone tablets under the other arm.

George W. approached the man and inquired, “Aren’t you Moses?”

The man ignored George W. and stared at the ceiling.

George W. positioned himself more directly in the man’s view and asked again, “Hey there! Aren’t you Moses?”

The man continued to peruse the ceiling.

George W. tugged at the man’s sleeve and asked once again, “HEY THERE! Aren’t you Moses???”

The man finally responded in an irritated voice, “Yes, I am.”

George W., a bit peeved at this point then asked, “Why the cold shoulder?”

To which Moses replied, “The last time a bush spoke to me I ended up spending forty years in the wilderness.”

BE REAL ABOUT THE ECONOMY, STUPID!

The Economy Is Sound Enough To Endure Bursting Bubbles
The Economy Is Sound Enough To Endure Bursting Bubbles

As the race for President heats up, issues are sometimes being discussed. At late, the topic of discussion seems to be the economy. As the economy has hit a bump due to the bursting of the bubble in the housing market, several financial institutions have gone or are on the verge of going bankrupt. As result the government is stepping in, in an attempt to head off the ripple effect that these collapses may cause.

It should be noted that the house flipping craze which caused many wide eyed risk takers to enter into over the past 5 years, have found out that they bit off more than could chew. The mortgages taken out on houses that they never intended to live in have come due and they could no longer afford the gambles that they made. The problem is that the housing market turned and after these house flippers invested tons of money into these homes in order to increase there values and sell them for a whopping profit, they find themselves without enough money to pay the mortgages that they used to buy the property in the first place.

Were it not for these risk takers willingness to overextend themselves the lending markets would not have overextended themselves. But because they have the chickens are coming home to roost and as result many innocent people who did not make such gambles are at risk. The lack of return to lenders from bankrupt gamblers have forced lenders to tighten up and the market has shrunk.

Now I do not presume to have the answers, I am not Alan Greenspan and I offer to you that Alan Greenspan did not have the answers either but I will say this, the American people did not enter into the risks that the house flipping, get rich quick, entrepreneurs did and although we are all suffering because of them, we should not be forced to bail them out.

If Joe Blow goes to the Kentucky Derby and places life savings on BushWonFloriduh to win and subsequently loses because Clinton-Lied came in first, should the federal reserve be forced to come in and subsidize Joe Blow?

Now of course the intricacies of the economy go beyond that analogy and there is a need for the government to step in and enact necessary measures that prevent the nation from entering into an economic unraveling due to a collapse that could lead to higher unemployment and a further shrinking of the economy and they are doing so. But this leads us back to this campaign for President.

Barack “America” and John McCain are now tussling over the economy. Obama blames Republicans, the current administration and John McCain for the closing of Lehman Bros., the takeover of FannieMae and Mac and the pending circumstances surrounding A.I.G… He wants more regulation. Given the circumstances I can say that I agree. And so does John McCain who unlike Barack Obama, called for regulations that would leave the national economy at less risk than it has been. The difference is the extent to which that the regulation goes.

I believe Obama’s liberal drive for control will lead to overregulation, which without his realizing or understanding, would lead to an eventual shrinking of the economy, just as it has done in the past when liberal overregulation killed certain market sectors and destroyed economic growth.

On top of this Barack Obama leads his charge by going on a political rant that accuses John McCain of being out of touch. He makes this accusation based on the fact that McCain believes our economy is sound.

Well I have news for Barack, McCain is right. Despite the collapse of a financial institution that overextended itself and a sector of the housing market that saw it’s over inflated market bubble burst , in September, the economy posted a strong gain of 3.3 percent at an annual rate in the second quarter. This was led by growth in consumer spending, exports, and the recent stimulus package. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the level of growth demonstrated the “resilience of the economy in the face of high energy prices, a weak housing market, and difficulties in the financial markets“.

On top of that, orders for durable goods have been rising in recent months and productivity growth over the past four quarters has been strong at 3.4 percent – above the averages for each of the past three decades over the course of the Administration.

What this amounts to is the fact that despite recent troubles in certain sectors, the American economy is sound. Sound enough to not fall apart due to crisis in anyone sector.

Unlike the house flippers who helped to bring on the problems that we are seeing unfold, the American economy and it’s people do not put all our eggs in one basket.

According to James Sherk, an analyst and expert in labor economics, macroeconomics, fiscal policy, and economic growth, politicians like Obama, in the case of the economy, “should not get away with spinning gold into straw to score political points. While the economy is not doing as well as it did at the height of the tech bubble, it is still growing strongly”.

In other words the economy is “sound” and over exaggerated claims that the sky is falling should not be made by a politician who has yet to demonstrate that he has the judgment to do what is right.

John McCain warned of the need to regulate against the type of activity that led to the headlines we are reading today, Barack Obama did not. Yet Obama comes before us to say that he can solve the problem and he does so by overreaching and offering the type of regulation that would take the word “free” out of “free markets”. What John McCain has offered are measures that would prevent the type of overextension that is causing the federal government to now step in and share in the burden of.

What John McCain is doing is telling the truth. He is not trying to create a national downturn in the economy so that he can come off as the messianic savior that Barack “America” makes himself out to be. John McCain is not trying to make things seem worse so that he can get elected. He is the telling the truth when he says “the American economy is sound”. Were it not, we would not be able to endure the headlines that we read today.

FLAG-GATE

As the Democrats wrapped up their convention they also wrapped up the America flags which they used to show their patriotism. They wrapped them up in garbage bags that were set aside dumpsters outside of INVESCO Field.

According to an Obama official “All of the flags at Invesco were picked up and put in bags and into storage, along with the unused flags and campaign signs. The flags were going to be donated, and the signs were going to be sent out to be used elsewhere”. The official maintained anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the press.

But if he was authorized to speak for them would he actually claim that the garbage that contained these flags along with crumpled, handwritten Obama for President signs and crushed soda and coffee cups, was actually a system of storage?

Was placing the flags in garbage bags filled with garbage next to a dumpster some sort of shipping operation?

Putting aside the actions of the campaign for a moment, I wonder how the flags got left behind on the seats and grounds, by the Obama fans in attendance for his acceptance.

I know that after I have waved an American flag with pride, my pride does not stop when the waving stops. I would have kept that flag and taken it with me. But I guess that sense of patriotic pride and fervor does not exist with the Obama supporters at Invesco Field.

But back to Obama’s campaign, lets get this straight folks, the over 12,000 flags tossed in garbage bags, with garbage and placed next to garbage dumpsters were not intended for future use. They were not going to be recycled for the next Obama campaign stop. No, not in his campaign.

But after being found they were saved from the real and symbolic treatment offered by Obama and they were delivered in 84 neatly packed bundles by Boy Scouts to a McCain-Palin campaign event in Colorado Springs.

Now this issue is really not an issue, I admit. But there is significant symbolism in the Obama campaign’s throwing the flags away. It is also a look into the mindset of the campaign of a man running for President. It demonstrates a lack of respect. It signifies the Obama camp’s reluctance to respect the flag.

A man like John McCain who has fought and almost died for this country understands the significance and symbolism of the flag. He understands the meaning behind it as well as the nation it represent.

Barack apparently does not. The throwing away of 12,000 flags by the Obama campaign shows us that they are not for America but that they think America is for just for them. For them to take advantage of. For them to blame. They use America for themselves and care not about truly doing things for America.

On the other hand we have in John McCain a man who puts country first. A man whose respect for country and flag prohibits him from throwing it all away.

No, the throwing away of our flag is not an issue that can rise to the importance of war or life threatening diseases, but it does rise the occasion of showing us a look at ones respect and love of country.

Barack Obama did not throw these flags away but his campaign people did. They are the type of people that Barack Obama entrusts and surrounds himself with. They are the people who advise him and help reinforce his thinking.

Barack did not throw them away himself but my friend, birds of a feather flock together and his flock is not what we can put stock in.
