This Halloween, The Ghost of Elections Future Appears

Bookmark and Share   I’m not much for Halloween. I never really was. Even as a child I felt kind of silly getting into costumes and I was even more uncomfortable going door to door trick or treating. I was uneasy knocking on doors and asking for things. As I grew up, that unease relaxed as I no longer felt the need to humor adults by doing it and showing some sort of glee for the Halloween tradition.

Not long after that though, I found myself almost liking going door to door, but by that time it was for far better reason than candy. It was for votes. When it came to getting petition signatures or getting out the vote, although I still wasn’t completely comfortable, I felt more confident with what to me was a greater purpose for bothering people than just asking for candy corn or Milky Way bars.

But as I grew older, I found myself amid my college crowd of friends and grown ups who were not wandering the streets in search of candy, but were still into the whole Halloween costume concept. Conforming to society based upon a certain degree of peer pressure which created a desire to not be the dork totally left out of the social scene during October’s last weekend, I again succumbed to the season traditional. But this time, as an adult, gone were the Planet of the Apes masks or Werewolf costumes. Being of a political mind, I normally resorted to what came natural to me ………. political oriented costumes.

One year, when I was a leader within a county Young Republican organization, my home state of New York was running a most horribly embarrassing candidate for Governor. He was a multimillionaire, originally from Canada, and his name was Pierre Rinfret. Pierre was a joke. He was abrasive, ignorant, agenda-less and just an all around mistake that was inflicted upon Party regulars by Party elders. In many ways, he was a lot like current New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Palladino. That year, angry and embarrassed by my Party’s decision, I ran a write-in campaign for governor which gave people a choice to write-in the name of my local Republican state senator instead of voting for Mario Cuomo or Rinfret. Then, the weekend before the election, came the YR’s Halloween Party. The costume I chose to don was my standard work attire and accessories …… a suit and tie and my attaché case. But in addition to that was a curly haired rainbow wig, a clown nose and a name tag that read “Pierre Rinfret – Bozo the Candidate”.

Since then I continued to try and avoid Halloween as much as possible, especially the costume thing. But whenever it was unavoidable, I chose to craft a costume of a political nature. The last time I could not avoid the festivities, I found a red velvet, …… make that imitation velvet, ….. ladies devil costume, got cheap, low healed, red ladies shoes, contoured the outfit with imitation breasts, and then bought a Hillary Clinton mask which I proceeded to alter with the addition of horns to its scalp. The heals were tough to pull off but the bitchy attitude and point I wanted to make were easy.

Now, as another Halloween approaches, I find myself faced with possibly being unable to get out of Halloween this year too. To be honest, as usual I really don’t want to go through the hassle of making an ass out of myself and looking like a fool, but apparently far too many of us adults like the practice. So if I absolutely can’t get out of this year’s particular commitment, once again, being consumed by the all important elections of 2010, which are just three days away, I have decided to go as the “Ghost of Elections Future”.

For this I will wear a simple, but macabre, grim reaper-like black robe and hood that hide as much of the face as possible and in both arms I will carry a tombstone …….. cheap Styrofoam tombstones that you can still find in any toy or party store. On these synthetic stones, I will imprint two names. One will bear the name “Reid” and the other will read “Pelosi”.

Now I know some of you will consider this ‘politically incorrect’ and see it as a breach of sensitivities. Some of the more liberal among us will accuse me of suggesting that Pelosi and Reid be killed. To be clear, that would be ‘dead’ wrong. I wish not for anyone other than Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and mebers of Al Qaeda and the Taliban to die. I wish no Democrats any ill will and to those who would try to claim my costume does convey such a sentiment regarding Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, I will say, get over yourselves and get real. It is a joke which does not suggest their deaths but represents the end of their political reign of ridiculousness in Washington. I will also remind them that as supporters of Pelosi and Reid, I would expect that they of all people should know a joke when they see it. After all, Pelosi and Reid are two of the biggest jokes we have seen in decades and after two years in complete control of government, this Halloween, it is easy to see that they were no “treat”, because with them in charge, we were all tricked.

So if you see the “Ghost of Elections Future” at this Saturday night’s biggest Halloween bashes, instead of getting insulted, just take it as a reminder of things to come and start getting ready for the scariest of all days for Democrats this year ………Election Day.

Radical Muslims Outsmart Themselves

Bookmark and Share  Guest Editorial by Mike Duminiak
Somalia is “ruled” by a large number of armed groups. In the classic ‘might makes right’ story, any group of yo-yos with a large amount of fire power can stake out some territory and then ‘rule’ that scrap of land. The people living in that area are forced to conform with whatever arbitrary rules are instituted by whichever group of losers has control at any given moment.

Even the capital city of Mogadishu (capital in name only as there is no real government) is ruled by multiple armed bands much like inner city gangs holding neighborhoods hostage. The difference in Mogadishu is that there is no 911 to call to bring in law enforcement when the thugs get out of hand. The thugs are the law.

One area of Mogadishu is run by Islamic Radicals under the name Al Shabaab. Reports indicate that they are related to Al Qaeda. In a way, I hope those reports are accurate. Why? Simply because these morons in Al Shabaab are doing themselves more harm than anyone else could do to them. The idea that Al Qaeda could be so poorly run is a good sign.

Al Shabaab has declared war on immorality in their little corner of the land of anarchy. They have banned dancing, watching movies, playing soccer and ringtones on cell phones. Yes, ringtones are banned. Listening to music is forbidden and that includes ringtones on cell phones. All cell phones are required to use only the reading of verses from the Koran for their ringtones.

Unfortunately for these rocket scientist radicals, people can’t answer their phones at all now. You see, it is a violation of Islamic Law to interrupt the reading of the words of the Prophet. So, when your phone ‘rings’ and some cleric starts reading the verse from the Koran, you’ll be in violation of Islamic Law if you interrupt the reading to answer the call.

It is this kind of inability to think through their asinine radical moral crusade that is doing them more harm than armed opposition. The people are being shown just how impossibly moronic fundamentalist Islamic law is and they’re learning a valuable lesson in the process. If Somalia ever does have a government again someday, experiences like this one will ensure that it won’t be based on Islamic Law.

WHEW, NOW THAT GITMO IS CLOSING THINGS WILL FINALLY GET BETTER?

antguantanamo_photoBookmark and Share         So everyone wants to close down our terrorist prison operation on Guantanamo in Cuba.

I say “why the heck not”?

After all it has not helped matters much.

I mean why imprison suspects if you can’t charge them and detain them? Why arrest people who you are simply going to set free so that they can continue to plot, plan and participate in the mass murder of us.

And besides, there is not a neighborhood in America that wouldn’t welcome a terrorist prison camp in its midst. Right?
Who cares about the fact that more than 30 freed Guantanamo detainess have been either killed or recaptured after taking arms against allied forces in Pakistan and Afghanistan after being released from Guantanamo.

According to Commander Jeffrey Gordon, while in custody, detainees falsely claimed to be farmers, truck drivers, cooks, small-arms merchants, low-level combatants or had offered other false explanations for being in Afghanistan.

He added “We are aware of dozens of cases where they have returned to militant activities, participated in anti-US propaganda or engaged in other activities“.

So why hold prisoners in Guantanamo Bay?

Detaining prisoners of war only helps to become fodder for the left. Last year, much of the presidential race centered around hypothetical abuses of the rights of enemy combatants. Liberals tried to use these prisoners of war as tools which they used to paint Republicans as insensitive goons with.

So politics being the game that it is, forced the release of many of these Guantanamo Bay enemy combatants.

In some cases their arrests only helped to further the careers of these combatants.

Abu al-Hareth Muhammad al-Oufi

Prisoner #333 - aka:Abu al-Hareth Muhammad al-Oufi

Former inmates Abu al-Hareth Muhammad al-Oufi and Abu Sufyan al-Azdi al-Shahri,  known previously to us as prisoners number 333 and 372, respectively, recently surfaced in a new Al-Qaeda video. You know the jihadist version of the Girls Gone Wild videos we see so much of.

In that video, former U.S. prisoner number 372, Abu Sufyan al-Azdi al-Shahri said “By Allah, imprisonment only increased our persistence in our principles for which we went out, did jihad for, and were imprisoned for”.

In that same video it also became clear that al-Shihri was promoted for the time he sacrificed at Guantanamo. Now he is a senior member of Al-Quaeda’s leadership.

Doesn’t that make you feel good? It is nice to know that there exists a new government program to help disadvantaged terrorists further their career goals.

Priosoner #372

The Recently Promoted Abu Sufyan al-Azdi al-Shahri - aka: Priosoner #372

While we are closing down prisoner of war facilities and making it clear that we want to be friends with everyone, the Islamic extremists are continuing to arm themselves and plan strikes against us.

And while they are doing that, what are we doing?

We are making it easier for them to do it.

According to the Defense department 61 of 520 former Guantanamo detainees have returned to the field of battle.

What I want to know is how will we be better off when we discover that any one of those 61 former detainees were responsible for a suicide bomb that went off in Isreal and killed school children, or blew a hole in the side of an American passenger cruise ship, airliner or the Empire State Building?

This sense of renewed optimism that many perceive under the new administration is a wonderful thing but is there really anything to be optimistic about when we are extending a hand of friendship in the spirit of unity while at the same time we are getting slapped in the face in the war on terror.

punchline-politics

A large group of Taliban soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand-dune.

One Texas soldier is better than ten Taliban“.

The Taliban commander quickly send 10 of his best soldiers over the dune whereupon a gun-battle breaks out an continues for a few minutes, then silence.

The voice then calls out “One Texan is better than one hundred Taliban”.

Furious, the Taliban commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gunfight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence.

The Texan voice calls out again “One Texan is better than one thousand Taliban”.

The enraged Taliban commander musters one thousand fighters and sends them across the dune. Cannon, rocket and machine gun fire ring out as a huge battle is fought. Then silence. Eventually one wounded Taliban fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander,

“Don’t send any more men, it’s a trap. There’s actually TWO of them.”
